Avowed is a really unique fantasy world with a lot of lore and a lot of world-building. This, inevitably, means that there’s a lot to read and a lot to listen to, be it conversations with various named NPCs or banter between your companions.

Avowed is a massive open-world game with many mechanics that you have to keep in mind if you want to have a smooth experience.
Of course, not everything that you read or hear is going to be meaningful, much less memorable enough to call back to as a good or funny line. However, that doesn’t mean that Avowed is devoid of memorable quotes, be it from notes or from spoken dialogue, and what is worth remembering sheds brilliant light on the story.

“The Hopes Of An Empire Rest Upon You.”
The Emperor
The Emperor basically drops this heavy mission on you at the start of the game, and how right he is. Literally, nobody seems to be capable of solving their problems until the Envoy comes to town to solve them instead. Corruption runs rampant, and nobody is addressing the problems (e.g., all the quests) at hand, except the Envoy, for better or for worse.
You are everybody’s worst nightmare and dream come true, all at the same time, and whether they like it or not, you are here to stay and to try and solve as many problems as you can before everything collapses.
Soldier’s Note In Fort Northreach
This note is, unfortunately, easy to miss, but it gives a really great insight into some of the paranoia that was in Fort Northreach before it was attacked. It also portrays the misfortune of these people and the tragedy of their deaths – they were fully prepared for an outside force to take over, but they didn’t see it coming from the inside.
It also showcases just how well stocked their arsenal was and how, when an arsenal is well stocked, it means you’re prepared for war, and some people get a very itchy trigger finger.

“I Always Heard Folks Say You Were Blessed. Looks More Like A Curse To Me.”
Ilora
Oh Ilora, how right you are, and you didn’t even know it at the time. Given that Ilora saw bits of the Dreamscourage overtaking people, it only makes sense that she would see your Godlike and immediately assume that, yes, the Godlike must be indeed cursed to look like the Dream Thralls.

Rangers have the most varied arsenal in Avowed, but which weapons shine brightest?
It’s a miracle that she was willing to trust the Godlike at all, given their close appearance to the Dream Thralls. What she says also foreshadows some information that you get just a little later in the main quests.

“But Why Would You Belong To Another, Shackled To Their Will? Shackled Like Us! To Rot And Corruption.”
The Voice
The Voice provides an interesting take on the Godlike’s search for their patron deity, and it also overtly connects the Godlike to the Voice. It implies something inherently subservient about the role of Godlikes to the gods that made them, and this idea is only further reinforced with later lore of a god who, basically, possessed their godlike and slaughtered people on the battlefield.
It does not hold good implications about the influence of gods on their Godlikes, especially if it directly compares them to ideas of rot and corruption – something that the Dreamscourge is constantly compared to. Something that the land (in its implied semi-sentience) is either spreading to protect itself, or is suffering from and can’t help but spread.

“We Are Trapped. Like Wasps In Amber.”
The Voice
This line is such an interesting piece of dialogue that you can get from the Voice because it has so many implications. It implies that the Beyond is a natural existence that imprisoned the gods, even though later lore readily reveals that the gods moved into the Beyond of their own will.
Did they walk into the Beyond, ready to establish a new domain, and find that they could not leave? Are the Gods, now trapped, vicious, and angry, forced to be contained in a prison, not of their own choosing? What does this mean for a world that may be trying to break their Gods free?

“But Change Is Possible, If We Are Brave Enough To Want It.”
Sargamis
Look, Sargamis may not have great ideas, and he may be a bit unconventional, if not just straight-up problematic, in some of his beliefs and actions, but this was a good line. It speaks not only to his own perception of how one must take action for themselves, but it resonates well with so many other groups in the game.

You’ll want to get your hands on these two-handed weapons in the Living Lands.
The Paradisan Rebels, in particular, resonate well with this thought process – if only one is brave enough to do what they need or what they believe is needed, then they can begin to forge ahead in making great and often important changes.

“Great. Thanks For Getting Me Involved In Your Bullshit.”
The Envoy
The Godlike says this Ygwulf when you confront him, assuming that you choose to spare him and explore some of the extraneous dialogue. Above all else, is it painfully true – everyone gets you involved in all of their problems because they are incapable of solving them without your interference (as much as they dislike said interference).
Be it solving quests or hunting down the plethora of bounties that nobody else seems to have the time for, the Envoy is the only one fixing things. You deserve to be a little bit snarky because, as the Emperor’s Envoy, you’ve basically been put through a blender and rapidly thrown about the room as soon as you accepted your mission to end the Dreamscourge.

“There Aren’t Many Godlike Left These Days.”
Giatta
It is going to be difficult to forget this line and this sentiment because nobody will let you forget it. It doesn’t matter when or where you are in the game, someone will inevitably comment on you being a Godlike and how rare and special that is (be it a good sign or a bad sign).
Thank you for making an obvious observation that just about everyone else has made (even other Godlike, like Sargamis) has made, Giatta. Your powers of observation are astounding, and we will be certain to keep this sentiment in mind as we push forward in the game.
