MKOI vs KC – LEC Winter Playoffs Preview
The LEC Winter playoffs have given us a clear indication of which are the stronger teams in the league currently. With 2-0 wins across the board, the top four are composed of FNC, G2, KC, and MKOI.
While the other four (GX, BDS, TH, and VIT) will fight for survival in the lower bracket, the top teams will now have the chance to lock their spot in the top four by winning Round 2.
Aside from the legendary series between FNC and G2, we will also get the battle of two of the most popular teams in the LEC. On one hand, Karmine Corp has shown great promises and we have gotten proof that the team was just testing out stuff in the last week of the regular split. In the series against VIT, KC dominated from start to finish, although they took over 45 minutes to close out game 2.
On the other hand, MKOI just showed great consistency overall, showing improvements in their teamfighting as well, something they have always struggled with more compared to the top teams.
Series Breakdown
Based on how the two teams have performed so far, I think Karmine Corp has a slight advantage. I think individually speaking, KC has equal or stronger components across every role, with the exception of mid, but I don’t think Vladi will get smashed by jojopyun.
The big difference makers of the series, however, are definitely going to be the junglers. Both Elyoya and Yike are known for being two of the best in the role, with the former stronger early on and Yike more of a scaling player.
If MKOI can get a big lead early on, they might have what it takes to close out the game but if things get dragged out long, then KC should have the upper hand. Drafts should be pretty standard in the first two games so it will come down to the two teams’ creative picks in the decisive G3. And despite Myrwn is known for its nontraditional top lane picks, I think Canna can match him with no problem. Overall, KC is expected to win: the only question remaining is the score. Will it be a 2-0 win? Find out later tonight.
