Summary

  • Some of the biggest first-party Nintendo Switch games are on sale at Best Buy.
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Breath Of The Wild are both down to $39.99 each for a limited time.
  • Super Mario Odyssey, Pikmin 4, and other $60 Switch games are also available for less.

Nintendo is preparing for a full reveal of the Switch 2 on April 2, 2025. However, with 150 million regular Switches sold and counting, it has already confirmed support for its current console won’t end until demand is no longer there. The Switch 2 will also be backwards compatible with the current Switch, so with some of its best games heavily discounted at Best Buy, there has never been a better time to pick them up.

With more million-selling first-party games than any other console, the Switch will almost certainly be remembered for its outstanding library over anything else. Quite a few of those million-sellers are included in Best Buy’s sale. The best-selling Switch game ever, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, is one of them.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Sales Make The Case For Porting Anything And Everything

The Switch’s biggest hit is a Wii U game.

Almost 68 million Switch owners own a copy of the newest Mario Kart game, but its sales over the most recent holiday season suggest somehow, there are still more of you out there buying it. If you don’t already have MK8D, you can currently get it for $39.99, down from $59.99. You might think $20 off an eight-year-old game isn’t a great deal, but trust me, Nintendo doesn’t need to cut the price of its first-party games so it rarely happens.

Best Buy Has Some Of The Biggest And Best Switch Games Available For Less

Play Breath Of The Wild Already!

That’s why you should grab a copy of The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild while you’re at it. While not quite as successful as Mario Kart (only 32 million copies sold, what a lightweight), if you were to ask Switch owners the one game you should play above all others on the platform, they’d likely say BOTW. Another game that, despite launching with the Switch in 2017, is still well worth the $60 it usually costs, let alone the $39.99 it’s currently available for at Best Buy.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is an expanded version of the racing game originally launched on Nintendo Wii. It features new characters, an updated battle system, and more than 50 tracks.

Widely regarded as one of the best games ever made, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sets Link his toughest challenge yet. With free exploration of a huge open world and a story you can complete in your own order, it is a must-play for the Nintendo Switch.

The third game in what I’d consider to be the Switch’s holy trinity is Super Mario Odyssey, and yes, that’s on sale at Best Buy too. The iconic platformer hasn’t had quite as generous a discount applied as Mario Kart and BOTW, but you can still get it for slightly less than usual for a limited time.

It isn’t just the big games that many of you already have that are available for less right now. Kirby and The Forgotten Land – one of the best platformers on Switch, this really isn’t said enough – is also down to $39.99. Splatoon 3 is on sale as well, and so is Pikmin 4. It’s probably going to be a while until we get a new Pikmin game. Grab this one while it’s on sale and play it across your Switch and then the Switch 2 once it gets here.
