Assassin’s Creed is one of the most famous gaming series ever. Most of the titles revolve around hooded figures stabbing people in the neck. That sounds fairly simple, but Ubisoft has managed to create plenty of games around that concept.
Along with neck-stabbing, the games feature giant open worlds and famous historical figures. Or at least, most of the main entries do. There are also plenty of spin-offs that take things in other directions. And there are more spin-offs than you may think. In fact, there may also be more main entries than you think since the series ditched numbers in its titles long ago, making it easier to lose track. To help keep track, here are all the main games and spin-offs.
There Have Been 13 Main Assassin’s Creed Games
The Assassin’s Creed series has had 13 main entries so far, starting in 2007 with the original Assassin’s Creed. So, that means the series has had 13 instalments in 16 years. That is a lot for a non-sports series.
The period between 2009 and 2015 was mainly responsible for the large number of AC games because it became a yearly series during those years. Things went even further in 2014 as two main Assassin’s Creed games were released: Assassin’s Creed Rogue and Assassin’s Creed Unity.
All of the main entries have been released on the PC, and most of them have landed on the Xbox One and PS4. Here is a full breakdown of the games:

There Have Been 18 Assassin’s Creed Spin-Off Games
By this point in time, there have been more Assassin’s Creed spin-offs than main entries, as 18 of them have been released. The first came in 2008, just one year after the series began. Then, for the following decade, an AC spin-off title came out every single year. Some years even had multiple of them.
A few of the games, such as Freedom Cry and Liberation, are very similar to the main entries in presentation and mechanics. However, most of the other spin-offs couldn’t be more different from the main games. This is particularly true for the mobile and browser titles.
Most of the spin-offs weren’t released on consoles. Instead, they were exclusive to handheld and mobile platforms. There was even a VR game in 2023.
These are all of the spin-offs:

Altogether, there have been 31 Assassin’s Creed games. That isn’t counting re-releases or remasters. The number only includes the main entries and the spin-offs.
Of course, Assassin’s Creed is still an active series, meaning this total will continue to grow.
