FNC vs G2 – LEC Winter Playoffs Preview

The LEC Winter playoffs kicked off last week and we already saw Round 1 teams go at it and give clear signs of who is competing for the title and a trip to South Korea for First Stand.

Both G2 and FNC had convincing wins over their respective opponents, GX and TH, winning 2-0. With the implementation of the Fearless draft, we have started to witness more creativity for teams, with G2 pulling out Warwick top lane and working pretty well. Fnatic, on the other hand, played some standard League of Legends but dominated from top to finish with solid team fighting.

Heading into Round 2, G2 and FNC meet again after the latter won the Bo1 in the regular split. At that moment, G2 wasn’t still up to form and FNC took a convincing win. This time around, however, things might go a little differently. Let’s see why.

Series Breakdown

G2 took a slow start to find the groove but they have been showing up much better now that SkewMond and Labrov have found their confidence. BrokenBlade and Caps are arguably still the best solo laners, with Hans maintaining his consistency.

Going against FNC, however, G2 will be put to the test. While you could argue G2 has the upper hand in mid and top, FNC has the stronger bot lane and the best version of Razork in recent years.

Ever since LEC 2024 summer, the Spanish jungler has been the best jungler in the league and now that he has a team that can take the resources, he’s shining even more. He’s the most proactive in his role and consistently generates advantages for his team. With Mikyx coordinating with him, the team can always get a lead by minute 15. According to Games of Legends, FNC has a 100% win rate when ahead.

Draft will play a determining factor in the series but FNC is looking a bit more solid than G2. Considering it’s still a Bo3 series, I don’t think G2’s innovative approach to drafts can make enough difference. Nonetheless, we should have a close series, so the expected score is 2-1 for FNC.
