When is the FNAF Secret of the Mimic release date? Five Nights at Freddy’s is one of the most well-known and well-loved horror game series of all time, and it just keeps on coming. There are mainline games, spinoff games, toys, VR games, and a movie series now, and, almost ten years to the day since the franchise’s debut, another official spin-off horror game was announced.

Secret of the Mimic is an officially licensed FNAF game from Steel Wool studios which previously released Security Breach and VR game Help Wanted. The latest installment in the Five Nights at Freddy’s series is presumably entirely cannon like previous Steel Wool games, but is set to deep dive into an all-new set of characters. As we look forward to the Secret of the Mimic release date, here’s what we know about the horror game so far.

Secret of the Mimic release date

The Five Nights at Freddy’s Secret of the Mimic release date is confirmed as Friday, June 13, 2025. Yep, Friday 13th. So far, the horror game is only confirmed for Windows PC and PlayStation 5.

All was quiet regarding Secret of the Mimic following the initial, cryptic reveal in August 2024. Then, in February 2025, a gameplay and release date trailer was shown during State of Play, giving us just four months to prepare ourselves for the horrors ahead.

As we discuss below, the trailer tells us more about the Mimic, why it has that name, and what our job is as another ill-fated employee of Fazbear Entertainment.

Secret of the Mimic trailers

The first trailer, a short and cryptic reveal trailer, was released on August 6, 2024, just ahead of the 10th anniversary of the series. This video shows a music box slowly opening to reveal the eyes and nose of a clown-like character.

While the character shown is currently unknown in the franchise, we know the titular Mimic from Tales from the Pizzaplex and, more recently, the Security Breach Ruin DLC. The Mimic is known to change its appearance and mimic the actions and sounds of others, so this character is likely to be The Mimic in a different form.

The second trailer suddenly gave us much more information, including a release date. The narrator informs us that, in classic FNAF style, we have recently been employed by Fazbear Entertainment to undertake a terrifying and dangerous job. This time, we’re tasked with retrieving an endoskeleton with the ability to adapt to any costume: The Mimic.

Given this ability, we assume that the Mimic will be hard to track down, appearing in different forms throughout the game. Of course, it’s also malfunctioning, so try to keep your fingers away from any moving parts.

The FNAF Secret of the Mimic release date is closer than we thought, and we can’t wait. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we hear anything else, but you can check out the rest of the single-player game series in the meantime, or take a look at some other upcoming PC games also coming soon.
