Summary

  • Elden Ring Nightreign had significant server issues during its recent network test, raising concerns about its launch.
  • The game needs stable online connectivity for its co-op focus to pay off.
  • A quick response and potential additional network test may help FromSoftware fix player experience and prevent future issues.

There’s a lot riding on Elden Ring Nightreign‘s success, with it being the third Elden Ring experience to be released in the last three years, and less than a year between it and Shadow of the Erdtree. In other words, it’s likely Elden Ring burnout has already begun to set in, which means everything needs to go smoothly with the launch of Elden Ring Nightreign, especially since its co-op focused gameplay makes it brand-new territory for FromSoftware. Unfortunately, Elden Ring Nightreign experienced some significant issues during its recent network test, which already doesn’t bode well for the game’s launch.

Since Elden Ring Nightreign is intended to be an online co-op experience, it can’t afford to have any major issues regarding connections and network stability, as that could make the game dead on arrival. That’s why Elden Ring Nightreign‘s recent network issues are so worrisome, as they cast a looming shadow over the game’s future, forecasting unfortunate events that not even its standout features can save it from. Elden Ring Nightreign will need to bounce back from this quickly and prove itself in what could be an additional future network test, as these issues lingering until the game’s launch would be devastating.

Elden Ring Nightreign’s Beta Server Issues Need to Be Resolved Before Launch

Elden Ring Nightreign Had Plentiful Server Issues During Its Network Test

As its name suggests, a “network test” is simply that — a chance for Elden Ring Nightreign to test its servers when a multitude of players are trying to log in and play the game at the same time. It could be argued that issues are to be expected during such tests, and that these issues are the sole reason why there is a network test to begin with. Nevertheless, things like these tend to leave a bad taste in the mouths of those who are looking forward to playing Elden Ring Nightreign without a hitch, even during its network test.

Since Elden Ring Nightreign is intended to be an online co-op experience, it can’t afford to have any major issues regarding connections and network stability, as that could make the game dead on arrival.

Throughout its initial network test on February 14, Elden Ring Nightreign experienced significant server issues. Many players encountered difficulties logging in and frequent disconnections, making the game largely unplayable during the first session. FromSoftware did acknowledge the problems, however, ultimately blaming them on server congestion, and issued an apology for the inconvenience it caused. Now, to address these issues, the developer has considered doing an additional network test session as compensation for the disappointing experience.

Stable Servers Are the One Thing Elden Ring Nightreign Needs to Get Right

Fortunately, regardless of the setbacks caused by the server issues from Elden Ring Nightreign‘s first network test, anticipation for the game remains high ahead of its May 30 launch, especially after FromSoftware has proven how quickly it will respond to any issues that take place and its willingness to make up for any shortcomings. Even so, should FromSoftware decide to move forward with an additional network test for Elden Ring Nightreign, were these issues to recur, it could very well be the last straw for many players who are hoping for a much smoother experience.

It’s currently unknown when an additional network test for Elden Ring Nightreign could happen, but it would likely be within the next month to give FromSoftware plenty of prep time ahead of launch.

At the very least, Elden Ring Nightreign can’t afford to experience any issues like this at launch, as network and server issues have been known to drive players away before a game even has a chance to make a proper impression. Hopefully, FromSoftware uses an additional network test as more than just a form of compensation for players who were affected during the first one, and instead sees it as an opportunity to prove that Elden Ring Nightreign can handle server load.
