Summary
- Captain America: Brave New World Fans noticed and criticized the lazy use of a recycled picture in the movie.
- The reused photo from a public event is used to depict a key friendship detail.
- Despite complaints about the movie, it has been a box office success.
Since Captain America: Brave New World hit theaters this past weekend, there have been aspects that fans have loved and aspects that fans have disliked about the way Marvel just jumpstarted the MCU. However, one Captain America: Brave New World detail that some fans have noticed have irked them simply because it seems like the production team was just being weirdly lazy.
Captain America: Brave New World is the vehicle that officially handed over the mantle of Captain America from Steve Rogers to Sam Wilson. The story underlines the challenges that a new Cap has to face from a country that knew and fully trusted Steve Rogers. While there are plenty of people in the MCU who know Sam Wilson and understand he can handle the job, there are others who are less convinced he should have ever been handed the shield. In that regard Wilson’s story mirrors Anthony Mackie as the actor taking over for Chris Evans. However, the latest issue doesn’t have anything to do with handing over the shield and is more about an approach taken by the people in charge of the production.

Captain America: Brave New World Fans Notice Odd Detail
While it’s not central to the plot of Captain America: Brave New World, the friendship between Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson is important to remind fans of in a movie like this. That’s why Sebastian Stan’s Bucky made a brief appearance in the film to talk to Sam. It’s also why a picture of the two friends is placed in the background of several scenes showing what’s important to Sam. However, as it turns out, the way the producers used the picture has caught fans’ attention and more than a few in the public believe it’s a level of lazy that might hint at other reasons that have caused the latest entry into the MCU to suffer critically.
Twitter user and notorious insider MyTimeToShineHello appears to be one of the first to notice that the picture meant to show the ongoing friendship between the new Captain America and Bucky is actually a recycled picture from a publicity event known as D23. The picture is of Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie standing next to each other and smiling as they entered the event. The social media user posted the two instances of the picture side by side with the caption, “They really took a photo of the two of them from D23 and used it in the film,” alongside a crying emoji.
“Multi billion dollar company btw,” another user commented in response to the revelation. “Why did they make it look like they took it with a camera from the 90s?” Another wrote. “They spend billions on this franchise, both of them are still actively involved, and they couldn’t get them in a room together for one photo,” a third user wrote.
It’s worth pointing out that while some fans found the approach by the Captain America: Brave New World production team lazy, others pointed out it’s far from the first time movies in the MCU have done this. One fan in particular noted that Marvel did the same thing with Tony Stark and Peter Parker, reusing a photo of Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr at a publicity event together. The lazy claim is the latest in a long line of complaints about the newest Marvel movie, but that hasn’t stopped it from cashing in on a rather impressive box office so far.
