Summary
- GOG’s new Dreamlist feature lets users vote on games to be added to the site.
- Black & White is in the lead by far, with Black & White 2 in third.
- Both games were never re-released, and cannot be purchased legitimately.
Black & White from Lionhead Studios launched to overwhelming critical acclaim back in 2001. While the team would later go on to be better known for the Fable series, Black & White is still fondly remembered by many, seen as one of the best god games ever released.
Now, for some unfathomable reason, you can’t purchase it anywhere. EA owns the rights to the game, but it was never re-released outside of PC and its Mac port a year later. It’s now considered abandonware, although some hold out hope that it will eventually see the light of day once more.

GOG Pledges To Offer Tech Support For Delisted Games
The original Warcraft games are getting delisted, prompting GOG to update its preservation program to offer tech support for titles that get removed.
It is therefore no surprise that Black & White has shot to the top of GOG‘s new Dreamlist. This page allows GOG users to request games to be released on the storefront. Black & White was already widely sought after for a re-release, but we can now see that this desire for a port hasn’t gone anywhere, as it’s firmly at the top of the site.
Black & White Fans Still Want A Re-Release
Black & White and Black & White 2 top GOG’s Dreamlist
As you can see over on the Dreamlist, the top five games that fans want on GOG are:
- Black & White
- Command & Conquer: The Ultimate Edition
- Black & White 2
- Freelancer
- The Operative: No One Lives Forvever
So, Black & White fans miss the series so much that they’ve got both the original and the sequel on the list. The second game was also never re-released, making it unavailable to play through legitimate means.
Other Lionhead games are rising through the charts too. Fable 2 is trending right now, with fans pushing for both that and Fable 3 to be re-released on PC. This would be huge, as Fable 2 never actually made it to PC back at launch, so it would be the first time we’ve been able to play it outside of Xbox 360.
Fable’s chances are much higher than Black & White’s – EA has gone this long without doing anything with the IP, after all. But who knows? Maybe it will finally take notice of the thousands of fans pleading for a re-release, and give them what they want.
