Summary
- A player’s strategy uses two beds to traverse The End in Minecraft, allowing them to cross the biome’s bottomless pits.
- The minimalist approach is ideal for players with limited resources and self-imposed challenges, but comes with potential risks.
A Minecraft fan has shared their strategy of using two beds repeatedly to cross gaps in The End. Once players reach The End in Minecraft, they’re typically equipped with powerful gear, but this strategy shows a minimalist approach to traversing the biome.
While it wasn’t part of the Minecraft launch, the End biome was introduced early in the game’s lifespan, in the 1.9 update. The End is full of Endermen, is the home of the Ender Dragon, and has End Cities and End Ships. As it hasn’t been changed since 2023, many Minecraft players have called for an End update to make going to the biome more enticing. Players primarily go to The End once they’re ready to beat the game and retrieve the Elytra. One gamer has shared their unique method of traversing The End, which could appeal to players working within certain limits.

Reddit user JoeSchmoeXD123 recently shared a video of their unique strategy to cross a path in The End. The video begins with the player crouching near the edge of an End landmass before placing a Red Bed along its side, and then connecting a Cyan Bed to it. They repeat this process until they reach an adjacent End island, staying within range of the prior bed as it breaks so they don’t lose it to the void. While some parts of The End are larger than others, much of the biome is a big empty space, in which players can fall to their deaths. This bed trick can prevent a deadly fall, but it has its own risks. While the player never shows their inventory, they appear to only have these two beds for the strategy. This suggests that they may have been there simply to illustrate the strategy rather than to defeat the Minecraft Ender Dragon.
This Unique Way to Cross The End in Minecraft Requires Two Beds
According to JoeSchmoeXD123, this technique is meant to be a minimalist method for players working with limited resources and constraints. Instead of mining Endstone and using it to build a path from one End island to another, the bed trick can be done with no tools. This may be most relevant to players completing challenges with a community, or using mods with heavy constraints like Skyblock and its variations. The player performs this trick with a Cyan and Red bed, but it can be done using any version of the item. As players can still fall to their death in these parts of Minecraft’s End biome, they may want to crouch around the edges, but should also maintain a close range to the bed. If the player is unable to loot the bed, it could fall into the void and could get stuck between two landmasses without it. This may prove to be more of a risk to some players than using other blocks because of the necessity of looting the bed.
As Mojang continues to update Minecraft, it may be easier to traverse The End in the future. An End update may be coming one day, but it isn’t part of the latest Snapshot or Preview.
