Mai is the third character in Street Fighter 6’s second season, joining from SNK’s Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters series. Following Terry Bogard, she is the second crossover character, known for her acrobatic, fan-based fighting style. In Street Fighter 6, she retains her fast, high-pressure gameplay, making her a strong pick for aggressive players.
Every character has a base outfit and an alternate Outfit 2, which can be unlocked with Fighter Coins or World Tour. To get Mai’s Outfit 2, players must find her in the World Tour mode and max out her bond. Here’s where to find Mai and how to unlock the outfit for offline and online matches in Street Fighter 6.

Where To Find Mai In Street Fighter 6
To find and enroll as Mai’s student, players must first complete the Knock Out Festival mission, which unlocks Terry as a Master in World Tour. Since Mai’s questline is tied to Terry’s, travel to Beat Square and then switch to “One Fateful Day – Knock Out Festival” at your hangout. Look for a poster near the hangout to start the Knock Out Festival 2 sub mission, change the time to nighttime, and head to the square for a cutscene.
Once the cutscene ends, talk to Alice about receiving the “KOF Event Cap a,” which must be worn to participate. Since the fights are duo battles, speak to Ichiko Kureno near the cafe in order to find a partner.
After pairing up, approach the duo opponents around the square, marked with indicators above their heads. Your opponents for the next section are:
- Thrasher Damnd & Mad Gear Elissa
- Rudra & Chandi
- Hwang & Jae Hee
- Shushu & Reirei
- Duck Queen & Mr. Maximum
After this, talk to Alice to receive the ticket needed to travel to Pao Pao Cafe.
Since the fights are duo battles, Mai will continue fighting even if you are defeated and can often win on her own. Don’t worry too much about losing—just keep your health in check and stock up on health items from the vendor in the middle of the square.
At Pao Pao Cafe, Ichiko reveals herself as Mai, triggering a cutscene. After it ends, fast travel to Aoikigahara, which should now be unlocked on your World Map. There, another cutscene will play where Mai effortlessly fights off several ninjas before you can talk to her and officially enroll as her student.

How To Get Mai’s Second Outfit In Street Fighter 6
Giving Mai Gifts
To unlock Mai’s Outfit 2, players must raise her Bond to 100. This is best done by gifting her high-value items like the Ornamental Hairpin (+40 Bond) and the Heavy Metal Demo Tape (+5 Bond).
To get the tape, head right of Aoikigahara and find Chichi, who rewards you for using an item with a debuff effect during battle. After winning, interact with the candies near the fox statue to open a path to a cave. Inside, defeat Fumitaro by landing a 5,000 damage combo to obtain the second tape.
For the 2UP Gift, you can give Mai Prepaid Cards, which cost only 1,260 coins from Shopkeeper Dora in The Lowlands – South Area of Old Nayshall.
If you’re low on Zenny, try the hard challenge at the Scrap Heap mini-game in Metro City. You can earn around 15K Zenny in under 30 seconds here. Switch to Marisa’s Master style if unlocked, then hit the truck with four Heavy Punches, followed by four Downward Heavy Kicks (Sweeps). After that, switch back to Heavy Punches until the truck explodes.
Acquiring The Ornamental Hairpin For Mai
To get the Ornamental Hairpin, travel to Metro City and talk to Alice to start The Legendary Supporting Cast mission. This only appears if you have switched to “One Fateful Day” at the hangout.
This mission requires you to fight all the cosplayers in Beat Square. Most of these fights are easy, but you can use items to boost your attack and defense if needed.
Fight the following during the day:
- Sankaku Mochizuki
- Iron Hand
- Will Bobson
- Flanco
- Saan & Gura (This is a duo fight, so try to use your Master Summons if you’ve accumulated enough Super meter.)
Change the time of day to nighttime and fight:
- Chad
- Ron Shu Tan
- Shushu & Reirei (You will have to fight these two one after the other, but both use the same fighting style.)
- Mr. Maximum
- Duck Queen (For her questions, choose the following dialogue options: Yes, then Professional Dancer, followed by Mohawk and Sunglasses.)
- Hwang
After completing all fights, you’ll receive the Ornamental Hairpin, KOF Event Cap y, and KOF Event T-Shirt a.
