Jujutsu Kaisen: Maki’s Ending, Explained

Maki had one of the better endings in Jujutsu Kaisen. She and Yuta ended together.

Specifically, Yuta played a big role in the Culling Game and the Shinjuku Showdown arcs, giving fans extremely good character arcs, as well as some tremendous battles. When it comes to character endings, Yuta received one of the better ones in JJK, despite having constant death flags over his head.

Yuta Vs Sukuna

  • Yuta Took Part In The Phenomenal Battle Vs Sukuna
  • Yuta Weakened Sukuna Considerably

Yuta was always destined to play a major role in the battle Vs Sukuna, the King of Curses. After Gojo’s loss and subsequent death, it was up to the young generation of sorcerers to make a difference in the battle and take over from their sensei. For Yuta, things started off differently. He first had to deal with Kenjaku, the secondary antagonist of the Shinjuku Showdown arc, and he did so phenomenally. With help from Todo, Yuta was able to teleport right behind Kenjaku after his battle against Takaba and chop his head right off. This was a massive moment in the war and without Yuta’s success, this war would most definitely have been lost. With that being done, all the curses in Kenjaku’s body that had been taken down were successfully dealt with by Rika, the Queen of Curses.

In the meanwhile, Sukuna had already dealt with the team up against him, comprising Yuji, Higuruma, Choso, and even Ino. With Higuruma out of the way, Yuta and the Queen of Curses jumped into the battle and fans got a phenomenal fight at their hand to witness.

Yuta then proceeded to immediately use his Domain Expansion, called Authentic Mutual Love, and it was extremely exciting to see him tap into his copied powers. Unleashing one power after another, Yuta successfully managed to corner Sukuna, and this fight could very well have ended here and Megumi woken up and taken the helping hand that Yuji offered. Instead, he rejected the hand and their plan failed, which led to Yuta being sliced with a World Splitting Dismantle and being kicked off the battlefield.

Thanks to Rika, Yuta managed to survive and didn’t die immediately like Gojo. At the same time, Mei Mei’s brother, Ui Ui was the one who transported Yuta immediately to Shook and this is why he was able to take part in the second round of the battle, which happened not long after. If the first round of his battle in Shinjuku was exciting, the second was absolutely unbelievable, at least for a time.

How Yuta Switched To Gojo’s Body

Yuta Dared To Carry Gojo’s Burden After Him

Following the fall of Yuta Okkotsu, fans knew that it was time for Yuji to take the stage. However, at the same time, Yuta couldn’t be completely discounted either. Although Yuji and the others did phenomenally well in the battle against Sukuna, Yuta couldn’t leave them to themselves and decided to do whatever little it was that he could do to ensure their victory. As such, while Yuta was being stitched together and healed, he decided to switch to Gojo’s body instead of using the power of Kenjaku’s cursed technique. With body hopping, Yuta successfully managed to gain access to Gojo’s body and used the full-throttle Reverse Cursed Technique to repair his body as well as he could.

Moments later, fans saw Gojo on the battlefield once again, only this time, it was actually Yuta in his body. With access to Gojo’s skillset, Yuta was a menace in the battle against Sukuna and he most definitely showed that by dying Unlimited Void. He even managed to launch a proper Hollow Purple in the battle against Sukuna and it is safe to say that this attack could’ve been the end of the fight already, had it not been for Yuta’s lack of control over the Limitless technique and the usage of Hollow Purple. While Yuta’s techniques against Sukuna gave him the upper hand, it was incredibly hard for him to claim victory, and what’s worse was that exerting himself so much eventually led to him running out of time.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Megumi’s Ending, Explained

Megumi had one of the most disappointing endings in JJK. His character was entirely wasted.

As Yuta’s technique ran out, he was left to his and fans didn’t see anything from him in the battle after. This was essentially the end of Yuta’s contribution to the Shinjuku Showdown arc, and while it was certainly not the biggest, it was more than enough to help Yuji claim the victory, which is something that all fans can respect.

Following the war, it was revealed that Yuta managed to go back to his own body thanks to Rika, while Gojo’s body and its fate wasn’t revealed in the story at all. Yuta was back to normal and stronger than ever before, standing as a leader of the next generation of sorcerers.

Yuta As The Gojo Family’s Acting Head

Yuta Became The Gojo Family’s Head

Although Yuta’s ending was already pretty decent, Gege took it to the next level in the JJK prologue and improved upon it considerably. Fans found out that Yuta had become the acting head of the Gojo Clan at some point after the war and that by the year 2035, he still held control over the clan. When Panda stopped functioning permanently, it was Yuta who had him stored in the Gojo Clan facilities.

In the year 2080, Yuta was revealed to be a grandfather and fans clearly saw his two grandchildren. The older male grandchild looks quite similar to Megumi Fushiguro, while the female one looks similar to Yuta himself. This is a clear indication of the fact that Yuta eventually went on to marry Maki, who was his biggest love interest. The two ended up having children, although fans haven’t seen any yet. However, fans most definitely got to see Yuta’s grandchildren instead, which just goes to show how heartwarming his ending in JJK was.

It must also be said that given the level of power he possessed and the potential he still held after everything, Yuta could easily have become the strongest sorcerer in the future as well. Whether he did it not remains to be seen, and will depend on the author’s vision.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s last chapter, JJK 271, was finally released on September 29, 2024. Fans can read the series on the Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump apps.
