In Palworld, you can collect and craft a wide variety of items, ranging from common resources like wood and ores to rare materials like chromite and crude oil. In the early game, exploring the world and gathering resources feels fun and easy since beginner crafting recipes only require small amounts. However, as you progress, you will need large quantities of materials to craft higher-tier items.

This is where expeditions come in. Expeditions in Palworld allow you to send a group of Pals to collect various items and resources. If you are new to the game or unfamiliar with expeditions, this guide is perfect for you. Follow this guide to learn how to unlock expeditions and send your Pals to gather free loot.

How to Unlock Expeditions in Palworld

Palworld - Unlocking Pal Expedition Station

To unlock expeditions, you must build the Pal Expedition Station, a special Pal structure that becomes available at level 15. Open the Technology tab, scroll down to tier 15, and unlock the Pal Expedition Station by spending two Technology Points.

Palworld - Building Pal Expedition Station

The Pal Expedition Station is a large structure, but it requires only a few materials to build. Collect the following items to construct it:

20 Wood: Obtained by chopping trees or picking up branches from the ground.
20 Stone: Mined from rock piles. Building a Stone Pit provides an unlimited supply.
5 Paldium Fragments: Mined from Paldium Ores.

Once you have gathered the required materials, open Build Mode, navigate to the Pal tab, and select the Pal Expedition Station. Since the structure is quite large, ensure you have enough space in your base. You can place it in a corner since Pals do not need to interact with it, meaning it will not interfere with their work.

Getting Started with the Pal Expedition Station

Once the Pal Expedition Station is built, you can start sending Pals on expeditions. Head to its entrance and select Open to access the destination menu. From here, you can choose where to send your Pals.

There are 14 different expedition locations, each offering unique rewards, risk levels, durations, recommended firepower, and required Pal types. You must defeat Tower Bosses to unlock expedition locations, once on Normal difficulty and again on Hard difficulty. Below is a list of all expedition locations, their rewards, and other useful details.

After selecting a location, click on it and choose the Pals you want to send. You can use the Auto-Assign button at the bottom to automatically select the best Pals from your Pal Box. Keep adding Pals until you reach the Recommended Firepower for the expedition. Once ready, press Start to send them on their mission. You can choose to add more Pals for extra firepower, which will help shorten the expedition duration. After the duration ends, you can collect expedition rewards from the Pal Expedition Station.

Use your strongest Pals, especially condensed Pals, to meet the Recommended Firepower goal. Highly condensed Pals provide a high boost in firepower.

Expeditions in Palworld last 30, 45, or 60 minutes, depending on the location. However, you can reduce the time by exceeding the Recommended Firepower. If you have many high-level Pals (around level 50-60), sending them on an expedition can significantly shorten its duration. There’s no need to worry if you do not have many Pals yet. You can still send a smaller group, but this will reduce both the quality and quantity of the rewards you receive.

Best Pal Expedition Locations

With 14 different locations and only one expedition allowed at a Pal Expedition Station, choosing the best location can be confusing. Every location offers useful rewards, but depending on your progression and goals, some expeditions are more valuable than others. Here are some of the best expedition spots in Palworld:

Free Pal Alliance Illicit Trading Post: This location provides all types of Pal Spheres available in Palworld. After defeating Lily and Lyleen at the Free Pal Alliance Tower on Hard difficulty, you can send expeditions to this post and farm Pal Spheres. This is an easy way to obtain Legendary, Ultimate, and Exotic Spheres, which would otherwise require rare materials like Plasteel, Pal Metal Ingots, and Hexolite.
Ancient Feybreak Remains: This expedition is ideal for players looking to farm raid boss materials. After defeating Bjorn and Bastigor at Feybreak Tower on Hard difficulty, you will unlock the Ancient Feybreak Remains expedition. Here, you can find slab fragments for all three raid bosses, including their ultra variants, as rewards.
Eternal Pyre’s Forbidden Market: This expedition offers a guaranteed chance to obtain rare and valuable resources like Pure Quartz, Crude Oil, and Chromite. To unlock it, defeat Axel and Orserk at the Eternal Pyre Tower in Mount Obsidian on Hard difficulty.
