To answer one of the easiest questions: yes, Monster Hunter Wilds does feature multiplayer. Although, it’s worth noting that you can go through the entire story solo.

You don’t need to play with others. However, you can play with up to three other hunters on a quest if you want to connect online with friends or just with randoms.

Is Monster Hunter Wilds Coming to Game Pass?

Monster Hunter Wilds will not launch on Game Pass. There’s a chance that down the line, Capcom makes a deal with Microsoft to put the game on the platform, but because Capcom probably wants to make as much money as it can from its own retail/digital sales of MH Wilds, don’t expect it to hit the subscription service anytime soon.

I have good news and bad news. The good news is that Monster Hunter Wilds will launch with full crossplay support. This means that PS5 players can play online with PC players, and both can play with Xbox players and vice versa.

However, the bad news is that Monster Hunter Wilds does not feature cross-progression. So you can not play on PS5 and continue with the same save data on a different platform. You must make an entirely new character and file if you wish to play on multiple platforms.

Think of Monster Hunter Wilds as more of an “open-zone” game and not a true open-world experience. You can travel through several different biomes, like lava and forest areas, and they are all rather large. You can take on quests while traveling around the environments without returning to the home base or speaking to your Handler.

It seems that, after doing a little digging, Monster Hunter Wilds does not seem to run all that well on the Steam Deck. You can try it out for yourself of course, but be warned that it might be a hassle to get working properly. And, apparently, other Monster Hunter games have had similar issues with Steam Deck compatibility.

It’s been quite some time since Monster Hunter introduced a new weapon to the series, and Capcom is continuing this trend with Wilds. Unfortunately, there are no new weapon types in the game.

No, you cannot smooch the monsters (nor the NPCs) in Monster Hunter Wilds. There are some optional dialog choices here and there, but they do not impact the story or character relationships. It’s not that kind of game…
