Summary
- Days Gone is indeed receiving a remaster on PlayStation 5, with a release date set for late April.
- The announcement was made at last week’s State of Play presentation, and already, the game is experiencing some massive popularity on the PlayStation Store’s “Bestelling” preorders list.
- For what it’s worth, the base version of the game was reported to be among the Top 10 best-selling PlayStation games, with over 7.3 million copies sold.
In case you missed it, the previously rumored remaster of Days Gone, Bend Studio’s post-apocalyptic open world action title, is indeed real. Tucked away midway through last week’s State of Play presentation, the remaster will launch on April 25, boasting new accessibility features, along with a new mode.
Now, just several days after its announcement, it appears that Days Gone is tracking well on the PlayStation Store’s preorder charts. A cursory search of the “Bestselling” preorders on the U.S. PSN shows Days Gone Remastered within the Top 10 (8th), behind the likes of Monster Hunter Wilds and Assassin’s Creed Shadows, but ahead of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and Doom: The Dark Ages.
It’s especially noteworthy considering that the remaster will be just $10 for those who already own a copy of the game on PlayStation 4. Otherwise, it’s a $49.99 purchase, similar to the remaster of Horizon Zero Dawn from last year.

Days Gone Is One Of PlayStation’s Best Sellers
For all the warts and memes about Days Gone, it is actually one of the better selling titles in PlayStation’s history. It was previously reported that the title had sold over 7.3 million copies, making it a Top 10 seller for the console. That figure put it ahead of the 2016 Ratchet and Clank remake, as well as other first-party fare like Little Big Planet 3 and inFamous: Second Son.
The game eventually made its way to Steam, where it posted over one million in sales, according to its director, John Ross. It’s unclear where exactly Days Gone stands now, but its sales figures cannot be denied. It also likely helps that those who redeemed the game via PlayStation Plus are not eligible for the $10 upgrade, meaning some will be forced to double-dip. In other words, it seems like Days Gone’s popularity is here to stay.
