As players might expect, using higher tier Waystones in the Atlas provides a higher inherent drop chance to the maps players are running. On top of that, Waystones can be augmented with magic and rare modifiers to give them affixes like more rare monsters, more pack density, or even directly increased currency drop rates.

Once players have started earning Atlas passive skill tree points, they can also invest in passively boosting drop chances on maps. The key passive Local Knowledge can be useful. This increases specific drop rates based on a map’s biome, with Grassy maps getting a boost to currency drop rates.

Path of Exile 2 players should ensure they do the following things near the beginning of the game so they hit the ground running.

Ideally, players want a tier 16+ Waystone with Simulacrum modifiers, as well as modifiers like more elites and higher pack density. Ritual Altars have items available for purchase after their encounters, and one of those items can be Omens, a valuable endgame crafting resource.

Omens make it easier to re-roll or remove specific affixes from gear, making them highly sought-after as an endgame crafting item. Just one of the regular Omens is worth a few Exalted Orbs, but the more potent Greater Omens can be traded for up to 10 Divine Orbs each, or hundreds of Exalted. The only issue with this as a farming method is that Rituals Altar have a fairly small chance of having Omens available, though this can be increased with passive points.

Breaches are one of the most rewarding endgame activities when they’re run on the right maps, like the limited Hideout maps mentioned earlier, or any smaller, easily navigable areas. Players may well want the chance to fight the Breach boss Xesht, but Breach Splinters are almost as valuable as Simulacrum Splinters for trading.

Once players can ensure a regular supply of Splinters per Breach run, by juicing maps, using precursor tablets, or spending Atlas passive points, they can trade Splinters freely for other currency like Exalted Orbs. Running Breaches themselves is also a good way of generating drops of currency and other items.

Simulacrum

Like Breaches, Simulacrums are another very popular endgame activity. That popularity can be leveraged via trading the Simulacrum Splinters needed to run the Simulacrum boss maps. Players can earn this currency by running Simulacrums themselves. As with other activities, if players want to use this as a farming technique, they’ll need to make use of Waystone juicing, precursor tablets, and Atlas passive skill points to enhance their drops.

There are exceedingly rare currencies with very specific uses that can be earned while running endgame maps and activities. Currencies like Omens or Greater Essences can be worth tens or even hundreds of Exalted Orbs on the currency exchange. These late-game currencies have their own uses, of course, so players need to think carefully about what they want to trade.

This method only applies when playing a character in a trading league, but Path of Exile 2 makes it convenient to list items straight out of a player’s stash on the trade market. Players can select an item in their stash, set a currency price, and simply wait for someone to meet the price. The item gets auto-sold, no need to meet other players and haggle trades.

A good item for one player’s build is a good item for another player running that build, so when trading up from something that was good for, say, tier one mapping, list it on the trade store, and it will likely sell. For players who have no idea about pricing, just look at items available for trade that are comparable and copy those.
