Summary

  • This Baldur’s Gate 3 mod reworks a conversation with Gale in Act 1.
  • With these changes, it should be a lot clearer which dialogue options trigger the Gale romance, and which ones don’t.
  • With the mod, many of us have been accidentally starting Gale’s romance.

Oh, Gale, no one yearns like you. Baldur’s Gate 3 is full of a bunch of romanceable companions, and there’s a good chance that you’ve at least activated Gale’s – even if you didn’t mean to. It’s pretty easy to accidentally lead him along, and even if it’s been toned down from launch, many of us end up having to break his heart in Act 2.

If you don’t want to go through all of that again, we finally have a solution. Stop accidentally dating Gale by Nexus Mods user HyperspaceTowel does exactly what it says on the tin, making it harder to accidentally trigger the Gale romance. It works by removing the romance flag from some of the lines of dialogue you get with him in Act 1, since these can come across as friendly, not flirty.

We Finally Have A Fix For Gale Coming On Too Strong

This Baldur’s Gate 3 mod stops Gale from getting the wrong idea when we speak to him at camp

Baldur's Gate 3 Gale Romance Scene

As it happens, talking to Gale at the camp party in Act 1 and asking him about his tressym meant there was a good chance you were leaving with an active romance. With the mod installed, you’ll have to be much clearer about your intentions than this to give him the impression that you’re flirting.

On top of this, the mod adds new lines of dialogue, some of which are also much clearer examples of flirting. Now, you can ask him about Tara in peace, content in the knowledge that you’re not setting him up for heartbreak further down the line.

There are other mods too if you’ve been experiencing issues with the dialogue elsewhere in the game. Recently, we covered the fan-made fix for the epilogue camp, since this often proves quite buggy. With this installed, character interactions should accurately reflect the relationship you had with them in the main story.
