Avowed is set to fully release on PC and Xbox Series X/S on February 18, but players who own the game’s Premium Edition can already get their hands on Obsidian’s latest RPG. Reviews for Avowed have been largely positive, with plenty of praise reserved for its engaging combat and impactful player choice. Avowed’s Graphics and Performance Are Getting a Lot of Praise
Following its early access release, the graphics and performance of Avowed are coming in for plenty of praise.
With Avowed still in the early access period, one user on Nexus Mods named Caites has gotten to work on improving the game. They’re single-handedly responsible for many of the most popular Avowed mods so far, which are all quality-of-life changes that improve the overall experience massively. For example, there’s “Better Companions,” which aims to make Avowed‘s companions more useful in combat. Then, there’s something like “Better Carry Weight and Encumbrance,” which looks to “make encumbrance less punishing.”
Avowed Already Has Great Quality-of-Life Mods
So far, Caites has released a total of nine quality-of-life mods over a few days, and it’s possible that more are on the way. These types of mods aren’t huge injections of content like many players want, but they’re significant fixes that help adjust some of Avowed‘s smaller sins. It has helped Avowed‘s modding scene get off to a great start, and hopefully, this will continue when the game hits full release on February 18.
The great thing about an active modding scene is it can help a game continue to be successful long beyond its initial release. This is perhaps most prominent with Bethesda games, but other developers have embraced this, too. It will be interesting to see if there is any form of Avowed modding tools released in the future to help with this, or if modders are flying blind going forward. This is purely speculation, though, and Obsidian has confirmed no plans to release modding tools for Avowed.
