The 32 Best Dark Souls 3 Mods, Ranked

There are a lot of great Dark Souls 3 mods out there. Here’s a look at some of the best mods available for the challenging title.

Throughout their playthrough, it’s possible for players to use different builds, including those based on Dexterity, Strength, Faith, and even Intelligence, to be powerful spellcasters. When it comes to Dark Souls 3, there’s really no shortage of options. As in previous installments, a lot of bosses have weaknesses to status effects and elemental damage, which can make it easier to defeat them. Here are some bosses in Dark Souls 3 that are weak to Fire.

Iudex Gundyr

The First Challenge Players Will Encounter

dark souls 3 iudex gundyr

HP

1,037

Drops

Coiled Sword, 3,000 Souls

Location

Cemetery of Ash

The Cemetery of Ash area is the first location that players will discover and explore. Naturally, as it’s the first part of the game, it’s not particularly challenging unless players venture into the wrong places and end up fighting a Crystal Lizard.

Upon encountering Iudex Gundyr, players will quickly notice that removing the coiled sword that was embedded in him was probably not the best idea. Luckily, if players manage to use fire against him, the fight will be much simpler. Unfortunately, imbuing weapons with fire is not possible until after players defeat Iudex Gundyr, so barring cheats or glitches, trying fire damage on him will not be possible until NG+. However, even in that case, using a good straight sword can go a long way in beating him.

Vordt Of The Boreal Valley

Not Too Difficult, But For Newcomers, He Can Be Tricky

Vordt of the Boreal Valley in Dark Souls 3

HP

1,328

Drops

Soul of Boreal Valley Vordt, 3,000 Souls

Location

High Wall of Lothric

When compared to other bosses later in the game, Vordt of the Boreal Valley is not particularly difficult. As a matter of fact, he could even be called a pushover. However, given that players encounter him early on in the game when they’re either not strong enough or not familiar with dodging and reading telegraphed attacks, he can give them a run for their money.

Overwhelmed by the selection of greatswords in Dark Souls 3? Here are the best that players should keep an eye out for.

If players want to imbue their weapon with fire to try this element on Vordt, the earliest they can get their hands on a Fire Gem is at the Undead Settlement, which complicates things, as Vordt must be defeated to access this area. The only alternative, is to choose a Fire Gem as a burial gift when creating players’ characters and going to Andre at the Firelink Shrine as soon as they get there. Since Vordt can move rather quickly, something with a long range, such as a halberd, can be of great help.

Curse-Rotted Greatwood

One Of The Most Annoying Bosses In The Game

Curse-Rotted Greatwood from Dark Souls 3 (1)

HP

5,405

Drops

Transposing Kiln, Soul of the Rotted Greatwood, 7,000 Souls

Location

Undead Settlement

The Curse-Rotted Greatwood is one of those enemies that is not particularly difficult, but it can be extremely annoying and frustrating to defeat. First of all, there are tons of enemies coming at players while they’re trying to hit the Greatwood’s pustules. And even when its just players and this treelike foe, its movements are sometimes erratic and hard to predict, which makes hitting the pustules even harder.

Using something that packs a punch, like a Greataxe, and combining it with a Fire Gem to deal fire damage to the Curse-Rotted Greatwood is a great strategy to make this boss fight a lot easier.

3

Champion’s Gravetender & Gravetender Greatwolf

Challenging, But Not As Much As Other Bosses In The DLC

Champion's Gravetender & Gravetender Greatwolf in Dark Souls 3

HP

Gravetender: 2,791, Greatwolf: 4,193

Drops

Valorheart, Champion’s Bones, 60,000 Souls

Location

Painted World of Ariandel

By the point players face the Champion’s Gravetender and the Gravetender Greatwolf, they’re not particularly a challenge. Sure, they can hit really hard and are great at dodging coming attacks, but if players are skilled enough and have strong weapons, they should not pose much of a threat.

Out of all the bosses in Dark Souls 3, the Champion’s Gravetender and the Gravetender Greatwolf are probably somewhere in the middle. However, if players introduce fire into the mix, the fight becomes even easier, almost making them look like pushovers.

2

Aldrich, Devourer Of Gods

A Mid-Game Skill Check That Can Be Frustrating

Dark Souls 3_Sirris Questline_Aldrich (1)

HP

4,727

Drops

Cinders of a Lord, Soul of Aldrich, 50,000 Souls

Location

Anor Londo

Anor Londo is, by no means, one of the easiest areas of Dark Souls 3. This location is filled with dangerous Black Knights wielding enormous swords, gargantuan greatbows, and long-range spears that can kill the Ashen One in a heartbeat.

Dark Souls 3: Every Starting Class, Ranked

Choosing a starting class in Dark Souls 3 may be daunting for new players, so we’ve laid out which classes to opt for, and which to pass on.

Due to this, it stands to reason that the boss at the end of this area would also pose a formidable challenge to players. Aldrich is not particularly quick. However, he can use his bow to create a rain of arrows that can immediately melt players’ health bar if they’re not quick. Using an overpowered weapon imbued with fire against this formidable foe is recommended to make the fight easier and conquer yet another Lord of Cinder.

1

Nameless King

One Of The Toughest Bosses In The Entirety Of Dark Souls 3

Nameless King in Dark Souls 3

HP

King of the Storm: 4,577, Nameless King: 7,100

Drops

Soul of the Nameless King, 80,000 Souls

Location

Archdragon Peak

Lastly, there’s the Nameless King. The people at FromSoftware made a great choice when they decided that this boss should be optional and not a skill-check or mandatory to progress through the story. There are two phases to this boss fight. During the first one, players will have to kill the Nameless King’s loyal companion, the King of the Storm. Once they do, they’ll have to deal with an even greater challenge.

The Nameless King is quick, hard to predict, and has the power to hit like a truck, so it’s really easy to die to him more than a few times. To fight the Nameless King, players will first have to gain access to Archdragon Peak, which can be easily missed.
