Just ahead of the mid-February 2025 wave of Xbox Game Pass departures, Microsoft updated the “Leaving Soon” section of the Xbox Cloud Gaming app, revealing eight more titles that will soon be pulled from the XGP content catalog. This group includes GRIS, Maneater, and PAW Patrol World, as well as Space Engineers, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Half of these newly announced removals have only spent a year on Microsoft’s subscription service, having been added to Xbox Game Pass between February and March 2024. Meanwhile, Sega’s soon-to-be-departing Yakuza games have been available since the start of 2021, whereas Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and GRIS were added to the XGP content catalog in March and September 2023, respectively.
6 Yakuza Games Will Remain on Xbox Game Pass in March 2025
Following these upcoming removals, Xbox Game Pass will still have six Yakuza games remaining at the start of March 2025. However, seeing how the service will soon be pulling two middle entries in the long-running series, Microsoft’s subscribers will no longer be able to play through the first 15 years’ worth of mainline games in chronological story order without buying any of them. The franchise installments that will remain on Xbox Game Pass on March 1 are: Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, Yakuza Kiwami 2, Yakuza 5 Remastered, Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, and Yakuza: Like a Dragon, sometimes referred to as Yakuza 7 among the fandom.
The soon-to-be-departing Yakuza games were originally added to Xbox Game Pass alongside Yakuza 5 Remastered. It’s currently unclear why Y5R won’t be joining them in leaving the service at the end of February. Microsoft should officially confirm the next batch of Xbox Game Pass departures as part of its February 2025 Wave 2 lineup announcement, which is likely to take place on February 18, the same day Avowed arrives on the service. Based on the company’s track record, it’s possible that the current “Leaving Soon” section of the Xbox Cloud Gaming app is incomplete, and that even more titles will leave the XGP library at the end of the month.
