What makes Alfornada especially unique is its homage to the original Pokemon games, Red and Blue. Tulip’s battle arena is situated atop a building to the left of the gym, and the building itself is adorned with mosaics that recreate the sprite art used in the original titles. Back in the day, the original games had a limited set of sprites to represent each Pokemon based on their type, and this visual throwback to the past is a nostalgic touch for longtime fans.
