Marvel Rivals Players Hit Back At Luna Snow's $21 2099 Bundle

Summary

  • Marvel Rivals players appear to be torn over how much its skins and bundles should cost.
  • The debate has been sparked by the new Luna and Cap’ bundles that cost $21 each.
  • Some agree that’s too much, whereas others point to other games where skins cost a lot more.

There are a lot of reasons why Marvel Rivals has performed so well during its first two months. One of the leading reasons is that the game is free-to-play. Even people who have never played a hero shooter before will have given it a go because hey, why not? However, if a game is free, you have to expect some pricey add-ons when you get in there, and some aren’t happy with just how pricey those add-ons are starting to get.

NetEase added a Luna Snow – Mirae 2099 bundle last week along with a new look for Captain America based on how he looks in Avengers: Infinity War. The bundles cost 2,200 Units each. If you haven’t accrued enough units via gameplay, you will need to exchange Lattice for them. The 2,180 Lattice bundle costs $19.99, and an additional 100 Lattice to bring you over the 2,200 Units required is $0.99.

That means each of the new bundles will cost $21 if you don’t have any Units or Lattice saved up, and there are mixed feelings about that in the Rivals community. Reddit user u/Novercalis took to the u/marvelrivals subreddit to voice their concerns about the cost of the new bundles. They suggested that if the price were dropped, more people would buy it, also noting that many people who would love to buy both of the new bundles, as they do, simply won’t be willing to drop $42 on a free game all in one go.

How Much Have You Spent On Rivals So Far?

There are naturally quite a few people who agree with this sentiment in the replies. However, there are just as many, if not more, who are either okay with it or have already thrown their hands up and accepted this is just how it is. Many pointed out that $21 for a skin is actually a steal when compared to some other games. Online multiplayer games like Valorant and League of Legends have skins that cost hundreds of dollars, and people still buy them.

Others who might not be willing to pay $21 for a new skin themselves have pointed out that almost every match they’ve played this week in which someone is playing has Luna, that player has been wearing her new 2099 skin. Evidence that even though some think the bundle is overpriced, others are willing to splash some cash on a cool new look, probably because they didn’t pay anything for the game in the first place.
