Marvel Rivals Players Aren’t Happy About Its Latest Event
Marvel Rivals players take to social media to express their frustration with NetEase Games’ latest giveaway event in the popular hero shooter.
Reddit user Glum-Recipe1815 recently shared a zoomed-in screenshot of Bruce Banner’s gun in Marvel Rivals. Bruce Banner uses a Gamma Ray Gun that deals 16 damage when he isn’t tanking as Marvel Rivals‘ Hulk. The screenshot seemingly shows a bright green photo of some trees, a building, and a parking lot, with some gamers suggesting that it’s Epic Games’ headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina. Beyond the central photo, six smaller ones that are slightly distorted half-encircle the gun, while the other half has brighter green boxes that don’t look out of the ordinary. According to the top response to the post, the parking lot photo is being used as a cubemap, which is intended to help the Gamma Ray Gun appear more reflective.
There’s a Hidden Image in Bruce Banner’s Gamma Ray Gun in Marvel Rivals
Generally, cubemaps are used to conserve processing power for other things in the game while still providing realistic-looking reflectivity. One user also pointed out that this image is fairly common, as it’s the default HDRI that Unreal Engine uses, giving fans a sneak peek at some behind-the-scenes magic of game development. With how much happens in a standard Marvel Rivals match, little details like this cubemap could be what keep the game running so smoothly. Beyond the photo being such a small detail that might have been overlooked, Hulk players typically don’t stick to being Bruce Banner for long.
Given that players have to zoom in on Bruce Banner’s gun to see this detail, many Hulk mains probably haven’t noticed it. As NetEase Games continues to update Marvel Rivals, this hidden detail may be changed in a future patch.
