Summary
- Layoffs at 10:10 Games reportedly followed Funko Fusion’s poor launch.
- At least 19 jobs are believed to have been impacted.
Funko Fusion developer, 10:10 Games, reportedly conducted layoffs in January, affecting 19 roles at the company. This development follows barely five months after the underwhelming launch of Funko Fusion in September 2024.
It’s still early in 2025, but the layoffs across the gaming industry have already picked up an alarming pace. Back in January, Ubisoft not only let go of a chunk of its employees but also shut down one of its studios, whereas Rocksteady also announced job cuts after the continued poor showing of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. In February, so far, the team behind Rumbleverse, the Smite 2 developer, and the Crysis creator have confirmed job cuts of their own. Indicating that the number of laid-off employees may be even higher, a new report has stated that a similar restructuring decision was also taken at the UK-based 10:10 Games recently—a studio that just rolled out its first game, Funko Fusion, last year.

Completing all the optional in-game achievements in Funko Fusion might be more challenging, and time-consuming, than players expect.
According to an Insider Gaming report, 10:10 Games employees were informed about layoffs in mid-January, with an unfulfilled assurance about those affected being “fully supported through this process.” The source reveals that no job assistance or “real” severance package was given to those laid off, as the exit process was swiftly wrapped up by January-end. It adds that insiders revealed “the bare legal minimum” was given instead of severance pay to employees. Reportedly, this sum included payments related to notice period and unused holidays, even though the Funko Fusion studio had itself encouraged employees to take their time off prior to this. Moreover, some insiders also told the source that they believed 10:10 Games had planned the layoffs much earlier and had consciously pushed the staff to use their leaves in order to save costs later.
Funko Fusion’s Poor Launch Allegedly Caused the Layoffs
The report mentions that Funko Fusion, the game that lets players fight enemies and complete objectives as Funko Pop characters, was the likely reason behind the latest job cuts. It shares that insiders described the debut project of 10:10 Games as “complete commercial and critical failure.” They further said that the game’s disappointing performance led to the studio only being able to raise funds for one project at the time. As per the sources, the layoff decision was dictated by the “needs” of the next project which is yet to be “fully designed.” In line with that, the job cuts reportedly didn’t affect any of those part of the “upper-management” either.
Amid this layoff rumor surfacing, 10:10 Games seems to be actively working on Funko Fusion, with certain post-launch updates revealed recently. Earlier in February, the British developer partnered with Universal to bring popular horror characters, including Dracula and Invisible Man to the IP-rich game.
