Sony’s two big games this year were absent, but that may be more tactical than it appears.
But if you were hoping to potentially see Fairgame$, the previously announced live-service heist game, then think again. That’s because, according to reliable insider Jeff Grubb, Fairgame$ has been pushed back to 2026. In his Game Mess Decides podcast, Grubb responded to multiple fans inquiring about the Haven Studios-led project.
“No Fairgame$ this year,” Grubb said. “Fairgame$, as far as I’m aware, has been pushed to 2026.”
It’s Been Nearly Two Years Since Fairgame$ Was Revealed
PlayStation fans may recall that Fairgame$ was initially revealed during the brand’s May 2023 PlayStation Showcase. A PS5 and PC title, it was given a near two-minute long CGI reveal trailer, with a PlayStation Blog post further detailing what to expect.
“In a nutshell, this is a thrilling competitive heist game where you join an underground movement to rob the ultra-rich and rebalance the scales,” the blog post read.
Interestingly enough, a survey was sent to PlayStation players nearly one year to the day that the game was initially revealed last year. The survey asked players about the types of games they like to play, as well as about their thoughts on the reveal trailer. The survey also seemingly ditched the $ from the game’s title, instead referring to it as Fairgames.
Of course, PlayStation fans likely haven’t forgotten about the commercial failure of Concord — a game that was pulled off shelves and led to its studio being closed. In the wake of its failure, Sony then announced it had canceled two more live-service projects, including a God of War project from Bluepoint. It’s unclear if the internal delay of Fairgame$ is related to any of these developments, but it is clear that fans won’t see anything related to the game for some time.
