Bungie may have plans to bring its upcoming live-service MOBA Project Gummy Bears to Nintendo Switch alongside PS5 and PC. Project Gummy Bears is supposedly a colorful and family-friendly game, making it a viable title for Sony to gain a foothold among the Switch userbase.
Information about Gummy Bears first surfaced in 2023, with it being described as a new incubation project at Bungie with a more vibrant aesthetic than the studio’s previous games. After Bungie’s July 2024 round of layoffs, though, Project Gummy Bears was shifted to a brand-new team within the PlayStation Studios umbrella. Since then, Gummy Bears has been further detailed as a colorful live-service team-based MOBA that draws inspiration from Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. series, and is apparently perceived as one of Bungie’s most fun and promising incubation projects.

New First-Party PlayStation Game Will Reportedly Be Inspired by Smash Bros
One of PlayStation Studios’ upcoming first-party games will reportedly take inspiration from Nintendo’s hit Smash Bros. series.
Now, a new rumor has allegedly shed light on Project Gummy Bears‘ release plans. Word comes by way of a recent report from Spanish website Vandal, which claims that Project Gummy Bears will launch on PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch day one. The report also alleged that Sony would formally reveal Project Gummy Bears at its recent February State of Play and confirm a 2025 release for the game, but this evidently didn’t happen. Shaky credibility aside, there’s some precedence to suggest that a Switch version of Project Gummy Bears could be on the cards.
LEGO Horizon Adventures’ Switch Release Might Have Set an Example that Bungie’s Project Gummy Bears Could Follow
The overall tone of Project Gummy Bears is purportedly vibrant and family-friendly, which would complement Nintendo’s usual first-party portfolio and possibly be quite appealing to Switch users, especially Super Smash Bros. fans. Sony has also shown a willingness to experiment with Switch releases, as the gaming giant released LEGO Horizon Adventures on the Nintendo platform in November 2024. LEGO Horizon Adventures was a fun, colorful, and light-hearted game, and since Project Gummy Bears appears to fit that description, it wouldn’t be too surprising if it was Sony’s next Switch release.
However, rumors like this should be approached with skepticism, especially those which have been partly debunked. While the prospect of Project Gummy Bears releasing on Switch isn’t too unfathomable, it seems quite unlikely that the game will launch in 2025. Bungie started work on Gummy Bears less than two years ago and the project was then spun off to an entirely new studio last year. Therefore, it’s plausible to assume that Project Gummy Bears is still a ways off from its formal reveal, let alone release.
