Jinta is voiced by Taku Yashiro and the other two main characters, Suzune and Byakuya, are voiced by Reina Ueda and Saori Hayami, respectively, who give a unique touch to their characters. She always wishes for the happiness of others like it’s the most natural thing. Sometimes I worry… That she’s sacrificing her own happiness.
The story is based on a period set in the Edo era, when society is facing famine and “oni,” that is, demons in the shape of humans exist. The story revolves around the protagonists—Jinta and his sister Suzune, who are newcomers to the country, specifically to the unfathomable village of Kadono. Jinta is the caretaker for a shrine maiden, Byakuya, and Suzune has a mysterious point of interest: that she keeps her red eye hidden under a headband. It is a story of their life connected to the oni that occurred from the Edo period all the way to modern Japan with some focus on human aspects, personalities, and the flow of time.
Long-Awaited Dark Fantasy Comes Back Stronger After Production Delays
Release Date Confirmed: Kijin Gentōshō Premieres In March
This anime was originally scheduled for a June 27, 2024, release, but due to production issues, Kijin Gentōshō was delayed and is now set to premiere on March 31, 2025. Currently, the streaming services for Kijin Gentōshō have not been released officially with the new announcement, but it’s safe to assume it will be available on Crunchyroll and Tokyo MX.
