Treasure Map – Painter’s Regret is one of the first maps players will encounter upon arriving at Emerald Stair in Avowed. You will need to complete many steps before attempting to access the second region. Even if you try to access it early, it’s not possible as you need permission to do so. Therefore, complete the available main quests and then head to Emerald Stair.
It’s not hard to complete a treasure map side quest in Avowed, but it is time-consuming, as you simply need to match the painted image with real scenery in the Living Lands. Once that’s done, follow the X mark on the map to find the hidden treasure.

Treasure Map – Painter’s Regret Location In Avowed
Unlike other treasure maps where you buy them from merchants, the Treasure Map – Painter’s Regret is found inside an abandoned house in Emerald Stair. The moment you reach the region, follow the dirt path until you find yourself located east of the Coastal Farms. Climb to the house and enter it to find a glowing painting on an easel. Grab it to trigger the Treasure Map – Painter’s Regret side quest in Avowed.
The painting doesn’t have any text as the other maps do, but if you look at the journal on the nearby couch you will see a text called Painter’s Regret. Basically, after the plague that infected the Living Lands, also known as the Dreamscourge, the painter lost the will and inspiration to create anything. However, they did leave their paintbrush somewhere, hoping that whoever finds it can continue his legacy.
To locate the hidden treasure chest hinted at in the Treasure Map – Painter’s Regret painting, head southwest of Fior mes Iverno and activate the River Fork Beacon. From there, go north to see small rocks leading up to a higher hill. Climb them and proceed left to find the chest. Open it and grab the Painter’s Brush, a unique trinket that adds a +5% Critical Hit Chance.
To equip it, open the inventory and head to the Accessories section. Scroll down to find the Painter’s Brush and click on it. Keep in mind that you can only wear one trinket and two rings. Accessories help players by giving them extra buffs that vary from leveling up certain skills such as Perception and Intellect to dealing additional damage to certain types of enemies.
