Stranger Things Fans Will Love Sadie Sink’s New Movie O’Dessa

Stranger Things Sadie Sink Doesn't Know Max's Fate

Stranger Things fans love action, adventure, big twists, and strong character development, and Sadie Sink’s upcoming musical movie O’Dessa sounds like it has all of those things. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie will premiere at the South by Southwest festival, which will start on March 8th, 2025. O’Dessa is about the title character, played by Sink, who lives in a post-apocalyptic world and decides to leave home to look for an heirloom. She not only falls in love when she gets to a new place, but she has to fight for her new partner’s life, too.

It sounds like O’Dessa and Max have a lot in common. While they might live in different worlds, they’re used to fighting good and evil, and they care about the people in their lives, too. While O’Dessa is a musical and that’s very different from the tone of Stranger Things, both projects are set in a terrifying and violent world. Although Hawkins, Indiana is still intact in the Stranger Things season 4 finale, it seems possible for the apocalypse to take place in the fifth and final season. It’s also possible that the Upside Down will trickle into the rest of the world or, at the very least, the world will become aware of the evil in Hawkins.

Stranger Things fans will definitely want to see Sink give another awesome performance in O’Dessa. Sink gave perhaps her best performance in Stranger Things season 4 when Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) picked Max because she was in pain after the death of her brother Billy Hargrove (Dacre Montgomery). Sink leaned into Max’s grief, and the scenes of her listening to the Kate Bush song “Running Up That Hill” are moving. Fans look forward to seeing Sink again in Stranger Things season 5 as she will no doubt do a great job once again.

It’s also cool to see Sink star in a musical as she has a musical theater background. Sink told Pinkvilla:

“I’m excited for everyone to see it because it’s a combination of basically everything that I’ve done in my career so far, and it’ll be exciting to share it.”

What Are Some Of Sadie Sink’s Best Movie And TV Roles?Stranger Things 4 Sadie Sink

While of course Sadie Sink’s best-known role is Max Mayfield on Stranger Things, she has appeared in several other TV shows and movies. Perhaps most notably, she played Ellie Sarsfield in The Whale, the 2022 drama starring Brendan Fraser. Ellie is the main character Charlie’s daughter who is trying to connect with. The actress also played Tess DeNunzio in the 2022 coming-of-age film Dear Zoe. While these two roles were very different from Max in Stranger Things, up until this point, Sink has portrayed young characters who experiencing similar struggles with confidence, identity, family issues, and friendships.

Sink also played Christine “Ziggy” Berman in Fear Street: Part Two: 1978 and two roles, Constance and Ziggy Berman, in the third movie in the franchise, Fear Street: Part Three: 1666. It was fun to see Sink appear in two horror movies, especially those based on the Fear Street series by R.L. Stine.

As for TV, Sink appeared in one episode of The Americans in 2013, one 2014 episode of Blue Bloods, and played Suzanne Ballard in the 2015 thriller series American Odyssey. Then, in 2016, Sink began portraying Max on Stranger Things, which has been her longest TV role so far. Since then, Sink has shown her range as Max has had fun with her friends, dealt with a break-up, and grieved the loss of her brother. Fans can’t wait to see Sink reprise her role in Stranger Things season 5, which should arrive on Netflix in 2025.
