As players complete the tutorial section, they will be able to explore the Trosky Region, starting with Troskowitz, where they are situated at the beginning. Here, players must find a way to attend the wedding and secure work. Blacksmith Radavon in Tachov offers multiple side quests that help players earn a place to sleep and ultimately an invitation to the wedding.
The Hermit is the final quest in Radavon’s questline, and players must carefully navigate its objectives. This guide provides a complete walkthrough, detailing what to do and avoid in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

The Hermit Side Quest Walkthrough In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
Starting The Quest
To start “The Hermit” quest, players must make their way to Tachov to Blacksmith Radavon, who will give them “Blacksmith’s Son” and “Jaunt”. Completing the second one will automatically start “The Hermit”. Players who completed Miller’s questline in Lower Semine Mill to get into the wedding will not have to do “Jaunt” for Radavon and can skip directly to “The Hermit”. Upon accepting the quest, your first objective will be to talk to Innkeeper Betty in Troskowitz.
Talk to Betty
Talk to Innkeeper Betty, and you will get multiple dialogue options when you bring up the subject of locating the Hermit. All of these dialogues are optional, but you need to complete them if you do not want to miss out on a Task during this side quest. Once you have exhausted all of the dialogues, you will have a bunch of new objectives, so let’s go through them one by one.
Talk to the Villagers
Firstly, you must talk to the villagers located around the Tavern to get more information about the Hermit. Most of the day-to-day visitors will ignore your questions or tell you that they do not know. If you can find the Alehouse Maid, be sure to talk to her, as you can ask her about a bunch of things, which should complete this objective.
Talk to Witness Gerda
Gerda is located near Apothecary Emerich’s yard, which is at the middle of Troskowitz and very hard to miss. Depending on the time of day, you might have to wait a few hours before she appears sitting on the bench, allowing you to talk to her. She will express that she doesn’t want to talk, and you will get a Speech check that is quite easy to pass. You can also pay her 12 Groschen if you have money to spare. Doing this will start the conversation, thus completing the objective.
Investigate The Cross
To the west of Troskowitz, you can find a marker on your map leading to the cross, which should have a grave beneath it that you must dig. To do this, you will require a Spade, which costs around 6-7 Groschen from Merchant Jurg Thomel in Troskowitz. Alternatively, you can steal a Spade
at various locations, but be sure no one is present to witness the crime, or you will be reported to the authorities.
Upon digging the grave, you will find a bag that you can loot to obtain:
-
Crusaders Of The Red Star Waffenrock
-
Chronicle of The Knights of The Cross
-
Seneschal Ambrose’s Decree
- Old Letter About The Order’s Commandery Fire
- 30 Groschen
-
Crusader Cloak
You might encounter wolves roaming around the grave. Be sure not to kill them if you are going for the “Lent” Trophy/Achievement.
Talk to Witness Stanislav
For this objective, you must travel east of Troskowitz this time to talk to Shepherd Stanislav. Similar to Gerda, you can pay him to get the answer or simply pass the Speech Check. You can also give him Schnapps
, which will get him to talk about the Hermit, thus completing the objective.

How To Find The Hermit In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
With all the optional objectives complete, the next step is to explore Apollonia, where you will find a black horse near a fence that you can jump. Investigate the horse and then head to the west side of Apollonia to find the Hermit’s location. Depending on the time of day, you might need to wait a few hours for him to wake up. Save your game before speaking to him, as he may sometimes become hostile upon seeing you. If this happens, passing a few more hours should resolve the issue.
Once you talk to the Hermit, select “I learnt some strange things about you…” and continue by exhausting all dialogue options. This will start the “A Sinful Soul” task, where he asks you to deliver a Ambrose’s Cross
to Widow Margaret in Troskowitz.
The “A Sinful Soul” task is straightforward—simply talk to the Widow, accept her request to bury Jan in the Graveyard, and she will take you to the graveyard. Here, you must dig a grave and then obtain the Old Bones
near the red flowers outside the Graveyard. You need to pluck the flowers first to reveal another grave to dig. Bury the bones inside to complete the task, earning 40 Groschen if you choose the first dialogue. Here is a complete walkthrough of “A Sinful Soul” in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

Should You Save Or Kill The Hermit In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2?
Once the task is complete, head back to the Hermit’s location. Along the way, you will encounter a group of knights preparing to take down the Hermit because they believe he is an imposter. They will ask for your help—agree, and they will instruct you to burn the hay as a signal for their attack.
When you approach the Hermit, keep your distance, and you will have the chance to reply to him. Choose “Try to get answers” followed by “I’m not your enemy!” to get close and talk. You can now ask him about the location of Ambrose’s Broken Sword
. After this, you must decide whether to help the Hermit fight the knights or side with the knights and take him out. Either choice rewards you with 85 Groschen, without other consequences. Taking out the knights is preferable if you want extra gear and Groschen, as you can loot their bodies afterward. Speak to the Hermit again for your 85 Groschen reward.
If you side with the Hermit, dealing with the three knights is not too difficult. You just need to hold off one enemy while the Hermit quickly takes down two before coming over to help you finish the last one.
If you skipped optional objectives and the Hermit does not reveal the sword’s location, go upstairs to his house and pick up the three sacks. This will reveal the Diary of Knight Conrad
, which contains clues to the sword’s location.
If you kill the Hermit before he reveals the sword’s location, acquiring the book will become much more difficult. The knights will occupy the house, and entering it will count as trespassing, making it risky to retrieve the Diary of Knight Conrad.
Finding the Sword & Forging It
With the location marked on your map, head there to find two entangled birch trees, beneath which lies the grave and the sword. You don’t need to dig up the grave, as there is nothing of value—just pick up the sword and return to Tachov.
Talk to Blacksmith Radavon, who will give you the green flag to forge the weapon yourself. Forging the Hermit’s Sword requires 1 Frankfurt Steel
and 2 Scrap Metal
. The process is simple: heat the sword evenly, then take it to the anvil and smith it with your hammer. After every strike, slightly move the sword to avoid hitting the same spot twice. Swap sides when reaching the tip and repeat until the sword loses heat, then reheat and continue hammering. Listen to Henry’s comments, as he will indicate if something is wrong.
Once complete, the workpiece becomes Toledo Steel Sword
. Give the weapon to Radavon, and he will reward you with 25 Groschen, allowing you to attend the wedding.
If you have completed Miller’s questline, you won’t need to take the sword as a wedding present, meaning you can give the sword to Tomcat in Nomad’s Camp instead. This will trigger a fight, and after winning, he will reward you with Groschen.
