In a pleasantly surprising turn of events, Mobile Suit Gundam Seed: Battle Destiny Remastered, a fresh take on the namesake PS Vita exclusive game, has been announced for release on May 22, 2025, for PC and Switch. Published by Bandai Namco, the original was released on June 7, 2012, and has since been playable only on the PS Vita, which was discontinued in 2019.

Despite taking the baton from the popular PlayStation Portable, the PS Vita’s story unfortunately turned out to be that of a doomed handheld console. During its entire lifespan, which was only about three years shorter compared to its predecessor, the PS Vita only shipped an estimated 15 million units, several times less than the 82 million estimated sales of the PSP. Even though Sony’s last dedicated handheld didn’t achieve itsexpected success, it still has a few interesting exclusives in its limited assortment of games. One such title, Mobile Suit Gundam Seed: Battle Destiny, is finally set to break free and land on modern systems, thanks to a forthcoming remaster.
