Pokemon GO does not appear to be hosting a Valentine’s Day event this year, for reasons that are currently unknown. Pokemon GO hosts all kinds of special events throughout the year, like every other live-service game. Some of these events are themed after major holidays and have become annual traditions for the augmented reality mobile game.
The Pokemon GO Halloween event has been a fan favorite for years, giving players the chance to earn double candy and better-complete their collection of Ghost-type Pokemon. Christmas is also celebrated in Pokemon GO, with players able to catch Pokemon with festive makeovers and enjoy a variety of in-game bonuses. Valentine’s Day has had its own Pokemon GO event since 2017, but that streak appears to have been broken in 2025.

Pokemon GO Player Shares Frustration After Overlooking Important Feature
A Pokemon GO player realizes entirely too late that they’ve overlooked an important feature that can help when choosing which Pokemon to raise.
Pokemon GO Valentine’s Day events have been going on for years, but fans seem to be out of luck in 2025. Niantic has not commented on the matter, but Pokemon GO players have taken to social media to voice their disappointment at the lack of a Valentine’s Day event this year. No Valentine’s Day event means that players can’t get rare Pokemon like Furfrou and Spinda with exclusive heart-themed looks. Some Pokemon GO players were looking forward to Valentine’s Day thinking they’d manage to add one of these rare Pokemon to their collection, but it seems that they will be missing out.
Pokemon GO Isn’t Celebrating Valentine’s Day This Year
Niantic did not announce a Valentine’s Day event for 2025, but many Pokemon GO players simply assumed one was on the way. After all, Pokemon GO has celebrated Valentine’s Day in some capacity every year since 2017, so it’s unclear why 2025 is the exception to the rule. Perhaps Niantic will respond to the backlash by bringing the Valentine’s Day event back, but fans shouldn’t hold their breath. There’s a better shot that Valentine’s Day returns in 2026, but with that being a whole year away and not even a guarantee, it’s likely to do little to appease those that aren’t happy about Niantic’s decision.
While Valentine’s Day isn’t being celebrated in Pokemon GO this year, there will be other events in 2025 for fans to look forward to, including the usual Community Day events. March 2025’s Community Day Pokemon is Fuecoco, with more events planned in the months ahead. Time will tell how Pokemon GO players will react to upcoming events, and if any other annual mainstays are skipped this year.
