A Pokemon GO player has shared their frustration after realizing that the game has a way of appraising Pokemon. It’s an unfortunate oversight, since the Pokemon GO appraisal feature is an easy way of determining which Pokemon are worth raising or even keeping.

Pokemon GO players enjoy the game in many ways. Plenty of fans painstakingly capture, assess, and raise their Pokemon to ensure that they have the best and strongest Pokemon for raids, Gym battles, and for the simple bragging rights. However, some prefer a more casual playstyle, potentially not even battling and instead preferring to just catch new Pokemon. For those who want to be able to take on battles readily, though, the appraisal feature is something that shouldn’t be overlooked.

While they now know better, the player mentions that they’ve even spent real-world money on expanding their storage capacity for Pokemon, which might not have been necessary if they’d known that some of them weren’t worthwhile to keep or raise.

Pokemon GO Fans Respond to Overlooked Appraisals

Numerous fans have been surprised as to how this player could have overlooked this feature, since it’s part of the in-game tutorial when players catch their very first Pokemon. Fairpayincolorado says that they have simply ignored the prompts the game displays, and apparently missed out on some important details as a result. However, other players have shared that they went through a similar problem due to the way the game’s tutorial works. In the early days of the game, the Appraise function didn’t yet exist. Those who started playing when Pokemon GO released, caught at least one Pokemon, and then didn’t play again for years won’t get the tutorial when they come back. Since the Appraise function in Pokemon GO didn’t launch until later in the game’s life, returning players might not notice that the option is there.

On the plus side, fans have reassured fairpayincolorado that IVs in Pokemon GO aren’t everything. Some Pokemon may end up being worth it without having a particularly good assessment from their team’s leader. Additionally, some Shadow Pokemon are better without being purified, so that might not have been too devastating for the fan’s experience.
