Summary
- PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium packages are on sale for US users until February 24, 2025.
- Sony is offering a 37% discount on PS Plus Premium and a 25% discount on PS Plus Extra.
- The offer is only good for new subscribers.
PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscription packages are on sale for a limited time in the US. February did not get off to the best start for the service, thanks to a global PlayStation Network outage that rendered many benefits unusable for roughly 24 hours. While Sony has already extended existing PlayStation Plus subscriptions for free following the disruption, it’s now offering new users an incentive, too.
Soon after resolving the PSN issue, Sony offered a five-day extension for PlayStation Plus users to make up for the lost day of service. While the added days go beyond the amount of time any users lost, some have pointed out that the compensation only covered PS Plus subscribers, even though non-subscribers were also affected. It’s not clear if this latest discount is related to the outage, but it may offer some consolation for PlayStation users who temporarily lost their internet services but haven’t bought a PS Plus package yet.

What You Need To Know About PlayStation Plus
Sony’s PlayStation Plus is an enticing subscription service that offers a lot of value. Here is almost everything someone needs to know about PS Plus.
From February 14 to February 24, 2025, Sony is offering a 37% discount on PS Plus Premium for users in the United States, alongside a 25% discount on PS Plus Extra. Those respective price cuts make both packages available for $99.99 for 12 months. After the year is up, users will have to pay the regular $159.99 or $134.99 annually, depending on their tier. Notably, both sales only apply to the 12-month subscription package, and there’s no deal on the Essential tier, which, at $79.99 a month, is still cheaper than the sale price for Premium and Extra. However, gamers get a lot more out of the higher-priced packages, including a potential PSP exclusive coming to PS Plus Premium as early as later this month.
PS Plus Premium and Extra Tiers Discounted for New US Subscribers Until February 24
It’s also worth noting that these sales only apply to new subscribers, so current PS Plus users can’t get a discount for a year before paying the regular price again. Still, it’s a good opportunity for non-subscribers to try out the service to see if they like it enough to pay full price for it down the line. Considering that this may be the last year PS Plus will offer PS4 games as a key benefit, it could be an ideal time to do so.
Joining now will give players the chance to play Lost Records: Bloom & Rage on day one under PS Plus Extra and Premium. Other day-one titles to look forward to include Blue Prince and Abiotic Factor, both coming later this year. It seems users will also be able to cancel their subscription and still enjoy the services for the remainder of the year if they want to get just 12 months of PS Plus at a discounted rate.
