Multiplayer has always been a big part of Stardew Valley on PC and consoles, but it hasn’t been available on mobile—until now. The feature first came out in 2018, two years after the game launched. Now with the 1.6.9 update, multiplayer is finally available on mobile. This means you can invite your friends to hang out and work together on your farm.

Multiplayer in the game’s mobile version is great, but it’s not unlocked by default. Don’t worry, though, because it’s pretty easy to set up. But before we get started, just keep in mind that it’s still an experimental feature, so you might run into a few bugs. In this article, we will cover everything you need to know about the multiplayer feature in Stardew Valley mobile.

Turning on the multiplayer feature on mobile is easy. Go to the game’s title screen. There, you’ll see some groups of leaves. You will need to tap those leaves in this order:

  • Up
  • Up
  • Down

  • Left
  • Right

  • Right

After tapping all the leaves in the aforementioned order, Stardew Valley players will also need to tap the ‘question mark’ at the bottom of their screen. This will open another menu. Close that and you will see the Co-op option now.

Upon clicking the Co-op option, players will be presented with two options. They can either host a game or join someone else’s. It’s important to keep in mind that the mode is only available for LAN, so players will need to be on the same network, such as on the same Wifi.

Players who are joining their friend’s farm will need to enter the host’s IP address. First, click the ‘Join’ option, enter your friend’s IP address, and click the tick icon next to the box. If you are hosting, on the other hand, you will need to share your IP address so other players can join.

As we mentioned earlier, the feature is in its experimental phase for now, so you might face some hiccups. If the game feels laggy, consider closing any heavy background apps. Make sure that you and your friends have the same version of the game, or the multiplayer won’t work. You can check your game’s version by clicking on the same question mark.
