If you’ve picked the Clergy route, have decided to fulfill the service needs of your villagers, or wish to gain more Clergy Splendour and Influence, it’s best to set up a Monastery in your settlement. However, building a Monastery for the first time can be a challenge, but if you follow this guide, you’ll be able to do it with ease.
How To Build A Monastery
Monastery, like other primary buildings from the other factions, can be built in parts. You can set up a Monastery Great Hall as your monument after hitting Progression level 12 and unlocking it from the Progression menu. If you plan to build any buildings related to the Monastery, follow these steps:
- Open the build menu and select the ‘Monastery.’ This will open up a variety of structures for you to choose from. You can pick any structure here, depending on your needs.
- Choose a ‘Room’ type of building. It can be any type of building, but it’s best if it doesn’t require any materials that you don’t already have.
- Select an ‘Interior Access’ type of sub-building.
- You will also have to place a ‘Visitor Location’ marker if it’s a Great Hall building. For other Monastery structures, this marker isn’t a requirement.
Furthermore, if you want more Clergy Splendour and Influence, you can edit these buildings and add decorative parts to them. These decorative parts that provide Clergy Splendour have a tiny star icon on them.
While you can build any building from any faction, you won’t be able to build the Monastery Great Hall if you’ve already built a Great Hall belonging to the Kingdom or Labour Paths. Additionally, if you’ve built a Monastery Great Hall, you won’t be able to fulfill the requirements of the Kingdom and Labour Aspirations, which you have to select while setting up the map.
Different types of Monastery buildings have different requirements. For example, if you plan to set up a herb garden, you’ll need to place a production structure first, alongside a resource depot. You can check for these requirements by selecting a structure type from the Monastery building menu, and then looking at the bottom-right menu on the screen.
The parts that are required to build the building of your choice but have not been built yet will be shown with a red exclamation mark on them. If you’ve already built the required parts, these icons will be marked with a green check.
You can also freely modify the sub-buildings, even after finishing building the entire structure, by selecting the building and clicking on the ‘Edit Building’ button which has a hammer icon on it.
