Elden Ring Nightreign server woes plague the co-op game’s first beta test

The Elden Ring Nightreign beta is underway, and if you were one of the lucky few who got their hands on a key you can dive into the new FromSoftware game right now. At least in theory. Despite being a limited-access test, the launch of the beta is already suffering server troubles in its opening hour, with players finding themselves unable to login or being kicked from the game before they can matchmake.

If you’ve ‘failed to log in to the game server’ in the Elden Ring Nightreign beta, or have been kicked from the game while playing or trying to matchmake, you’re not alone. Players across the game – including several PCGamesN staff members and streamers on Twitch and YouTube – have found themselves unceremoniously booted to the menu repeatedly. It’s a rocky start for the co-op game, although it’s certainly proving to be the ‘network test’ that FromSoftware was looking for.

The beta test for the new soulslike is set to run until Monday February 17, so there’s several days ahead. Nevertheless, if you’ve set your Friday aside to play, only to find yourself stuck in menus, it’s likely to leave you frustrated. While Nightreign will support solo play, co-op currently requires three players, although a two-person option is being considered for the future.

Elden Ring Nightreign failed to log in to the game server message.

So far, my time spent scanning across Twitch has revealed a handful of players getting some gameplay time in, mostly in the training area, but almost everyone I’ve seen has been booted to the menu after a while, with some unable to play at all. Hopefully the servers stabilize soon enough, and players are able to see what the new game brings to the Roundtable.

While you wait to log in, we’ve got all the latest on the Elden Ring Nightreign release date, along with some free Steam games to keep you busy.
