Considering the fact that FromSoftware previously claimed it wasn’t going to do anything else with Elden Ring, The Game Awards’ surprise announcement of Elden Ring Nightreign, a roguelite co-op spin-off with battle royale elements, took fans by storm. For FromSoft fans, it’s been the talk of the town for the past few months.

The soulslike formula fits surprisingly well into a Roguelite.
To make matters even more interesting, Bandai Namco announced that select players would get a chance to try out Elden Ring Nightreign shortly after its reveal as part of a network test. The very first session of that test is supposed to be happening right now, but it seems that even the lucky players with invites might not get a chance to play.
Elden Ring Nightreign’s Network Test Isn’t Going Very Well
Elden Ring Nightreign’s first Network Test session was supposed to get started an hour ago today, but it seems like most players aren’t going to be able to join in. Immediately after the doors opened, complaints about server issues and incredibly long queues started flooding social media, with Twitter and BlueSky in particular being full of annoyed fans.
Some Twitter users claim that they’ve been queueing to get into a match of Nightreign for more than 45 minutes, while others don’t seem to have made it past the title screen. Many players are being met with a message that claims that maintenance is currently being done on the network test, which might suggest it’s been taken offline for now.
Even if you do manage to get into this first play session, you’ve lost a significant chunk of time, as each one will only last three hours in total.
Sadly, there’s no way to know for sure right now, as neither Bandai Namco nor FromSoft have commented on the issues. The best thing that players can do is just stick around and keep trying to get in as much as possible. If nothing else, it does show how popular Nightreign is going to be and confirms that a network test was a very good idea.
