Summary

  • Elden Ring Nightreign does not include the beloved companion Torrent.
  • Instead, Nightreign features new ways to traverse the Lands Between.

It’s been confirmed that Elden Ring Nightreign doesn’t feature the beloved horse-like companion Torrent. Elden Ring Nightreign combines Elden Ring‘s Lands Between with a 3-day structure that also throws in some battle royale elements for good measure. A three-player co-op game that can also be played solo, Elden Ring Nightreign features iconic bosses from the base game, other FromSoftware titles, and completely original baddies to fight.

Elden Ring Nightreign is not what many fans expected from a follow-up to FromSoftware’s beloved open world epic. Still, FromSoftware’s track record speaks for itself, and hands-on reactions to Nightreign have been mostly positive so far. That doesn’t mean that the game hasn’t made some controversial decisions, with the latest being the lack of Torrent.

Elden Ring Nightreign Beta Experiencing Major Server Problems

Elden Ring Nightreign’s network test is off to a rocky start, as many players are unable to play the game due to ongoing server issues.

As reported by Dotesports, Elden Ring Nightreign does not feature Torrent. Torrent was a key figure in the original Elden Ring, gifted to players very early on in their adventure. From that point on, Elden Ring players could summon Torrent pretty much whenever they wanted, allowing them to make their way across the Lands Between at faster speeds and utilize his double jump to reach new areas. But while Torrent won’t be in Nightreign, the developers feel as though it won’t have a negative impact on the experience. Nightreign has new ways to get around, like the Spectral Hawks, for example.

Elden Ring Nightreign is Missing Torrent

Elden Ring Nightreign‘s lack of Torrent may not bother hardcore fans once they actually get their hands on the game, but some other decisions made about the game have proven to be much more divisive. Perhaps the biggest controversy surrounding the game is the fact that Elden Ring Nightreign does not support duos. Those interested in playing the game have to do it solo or in a group of three. This decision has left many fans scratching their heads, and it’s unclear if any changes will be made in response to fan feedback.

Elden Ring Nightreign launches May 30, so it will be a few months before most fans get to play it. In the meantime, some lucky fans have received invites to the Elden Ring Nightreign Network Test. Unfortunately, the test has experienced significant technical problems, keeping even those with invites from actually playing it. Issues like this are part of the reason why these tests are held in the first place, though, so hopefully, the game manages to avoid significant problems like these when it launches in May.
