There’s no denying that Necromancer Minion has been one of the most popular builds in Diablo 4 for a while now, but since Season 7 began a few weeks ago, something’s felt… off. It turns out that a core Unique in this build, the Ring of Mendeln, was bugged and completely skewing your damage numbers. Well, I’ve got good news for you – the latest Diablo 4 update has fixed this issue, so your Necro Minion build is firmly back on the menu. Patch 2.1.2 also comes with several of other fixes and new gameplay features, including a super helpful new Nightmare Dungeon affix.
With such a complex and intricate buildcrafting system, bugs are always to be expected in Diablo 4. The knock on effects even a small issue can have with the rest of your build can be pretty severe though, and that’s exactly what’s been happening with the Necromancer’s Ring of Mendeln. Those running the usually strong Neco Minion build have been reporting for weeks that damage numbers seem wonky (and not in the beneficial, overpowered sense either) but Blizzard has now thankfully eradicated this bug from the action RPG. “Fixed an issue where the damage from Ring of Mendeln was not properly scaling with all of the bonuses that it should,” it confirms in the patch notes for update 2.1.2.
It’s joined by plenty of other welcome fixes for issues such as Druid’s Wolves not applying Fortify with the Ferocious Wolf Pack upgrade and Echo of Lilith being able to repeatedly cast her Death From Above ability. Blizzard has also reversed the change it made in 2.1.1 that stopped you from moving while using the Druid’s Lacerate skill.

Despite being a small patch, there are a couple of gameplay additions that have snuck their way in too. The main one is the addition of a new affix for Nightmare Dungeons that will guarantee you a Forgotten Altar spawn. Blizzard warns though that “this affix will only be an option on Nightmare Dungeon Sigils for the remainder of Season of Witchcraft.” The other gameplay tweak – which is definitely the most important change ever made to Diablo 4 – is that you can now pet the raven. Yes, the new season’s pet, Dorian the raven, can now receive the love and affection it deserves. Adorable.
