The CS2 event in Hero Esports Asian Champions League has received a further buff, with confirmation that the tournament’s eventual winner will gain a direct invite to this year’s Esports World Cup. Between May 6th and 16th, eight of the best Asian CS2 teams will take to the server, playing for the lion’s share of a $300,000 prize pool in the Asian Champions League, with an EWC slot now up for grabs, too.

As Asia’s only Tier 1 event in the CS2 circuit for 2025, the Hero Esports Asian Champions League was already set to be huge for the region. With confirmation arriving that the winner will get a slot to the CS2 Esports World Cup, the stakes have never been higher. For context, the remaining 15 slots at the EWC will be filled by direct VRS invites, making the ACL the only way for teams outside the top 15 to qualify for the event.

Several individuals involved with making the change gave statements upon the announcement. Jonny Wang, CEO of the Asian Champions League, said this:

“We are very excited about the increasingly close relationship between the ACL and Esports World Cup, which is testament to the ACL’s ability to provide a platform for some of the world’s best esports teams based in Asia and enable them to excel on the global stage. We look forward to working with the Hero Esports team to organize our upcoming tournaments, as we continue to progress our shared ambition to grow both the Asian and international esports ecosystems.”

Meanwhile, Danny Tang, who is co-founder and CEO of Hero Esports, stated:

“Hero Esports created the Asian Champions League to bridge the gap between international tournaments and regional leagues, providing a clearer pathway for talented teams to compete on the global stage. The ACL’s continued collaboration with the Esports World Cup is an example of this vision becoming a reality, and it also represents Hero Esports’ commitment to shaping and empowering esports globally.”

Qualifiers for the Hero Esports Asian Champions League kick off in March and run through April. Four teams will eventually qualify via the Closed Qualifiers, with four being directly invited via VRS.
