Summary
- A panel of medical professionals found no evidence Lucy Letby committed any murders.
- The prosecution team’s confirmation bias and an expert’s misinterpretation led to the conviction.
- A Netflix documentary can raise awareness and encourage amateur sleuths to question the case.
A new Netflix true-crime documentary is currently in production about a nurse called Lucy Letby, who was convicted of murdering seven babies in the UK. The documentary was announced back in September 2024, and it’s set to challenge the evidence in the trial, and question whether the conviction was unsafe. A panel of medical professionals recently concluded there was no evidence Lucy Letby committed any murders, and this makes Netflix’s true crime offering even more intriguing.
The documentary is a joint venture between Netflix and ITN, but there is no official release date yet, and there will likely be more to add to it in light of recent developments. Lucy Letby is serving 15 whole life sentences, and she has failed in two appeals against her convictions. However, Letby’s lawyers are set to put forward an application to the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC), in an attempt to overturn her conviction, and potentially uncover one of the biggest miscarriages of justice in criminal history.

A Panel Of Medical Professionals Have Raised Serious Doubts Over Lucy Letby’s Conviction
A press conference took place in the UK on February 4, 2025, spearheaded by Lucy Letby’s legal team, after a panel of medical experts uncovered significant new evidence in the case. Dr Shoo Lee, whose medical paper was misinterpreted by the prosecution during the trial, was present at the press conference to announce the findings of the 14 strong panel of experts from across the globe. The team looked into 17 cases the prosecution team used to convict Letby, and they compiled an impartial evidence-based report. Dr Lee concluded the following:
We did not find any murders. In all cases, death or injury were due to natural causes or just bad medical care.
So how exactly did the prosecution team come to the conclusion that Letby committed murder? A mixture of confirmation bias and the over eagerness of a ‘so-called’ expert called Dr Dewi Evans, who latched onto to Dr Shoo Lee’s 1989 medical paper on air embolus, which relates to injuries caused by air injected into a baby’s arteries. Skin discoloration was reported on the deceased babies, and the prosecution used Evans as their star witness, and he cited Dr Shoo Lee’s paper as evidence of Letby’s guilt. If the prosecution had contacted Lee directly, he would have contradicted the evidence, and therefore, it didn’t fit in with the prosecution’s narrative and their attempts to railroad Letby. The upcoming true crime documentary about the Lucy Letby case will feature Dr Shoo Lee, and he’ll surely have more to say to convince true-crime fans of her innocence.

The case has caused a huge divide between people who are convinced of Letby’s guilt and others who have become accustomed to the UK courts’ eagerness to rush to judgment in criminal cases. The ‘sheep’ who follow the official narrative rammed down their throats by the mainstream media cite the lack of experts presented by Letby’s defense team during the trial as evidence of guilt. In reality, medical professionals were too scared to speak up in fear of losing their jobs. The National Health Service (NHS) is not fit for purpose in the UK, but there is an unwillingness to ever point the finger at these frailties being responsible for the death of the most vulnerable in society. The neo-natal unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital, where Letby was accused of committing the ‘murders’, was under-staffed and generally out of its depth.
Dr Shoo Lee claims the conditions in the unit were so bad, it should have been shut down. Here’s a theory: the doctors colluded with the police and the Crown Prosecution Service to railroad Lucy Letby because it was easier than facing up to an inevitable wrongful death lawsuit leveled at the NHS by the victims’ families. Lucy Letby is 35-years old, and as it stands, she will die in prison for a crime she might not have committed. The professionals have spoken, and they have concluded that there weren’t any ‘murders’ committed. The upcoming Netflix documentary will bring this evidence to a global audience, who can become ‘amateur true crime sleuths‘ on the case, and create enough noise to contribute to the eventual release of Lucy Letby.
