Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 offers new and improved ways to develop skills used by 15th-century craftsmen, vagabonds, and knights with impressive depth and accuracy. One of these skills is the brewing of potions, poisons, gunpowder, and various chemical concoctions through alchemy.

Both Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2 offer historical sandboxes, but which is better?

As you improve your alchemy skill and gain useful perks, you can make it easier to craft potions of the highest quality while also brewing multiples at a time, which can come in handy in a variety of situations. However, the best potions can have multiple uses or unique effects that make them essential for Henry’s journey.

10

Henry’s Saviour Schnapps

One of the more unique ways Kingdom Come gets around save scumming, you must drink a Saviour Schnapps if you want to quickly save your game at the cost of raising your drunkenness and requiring time to craft it. Outside maintaining progress, high-level Saviour Schnapps are very strong potions on their own.

The Henry level quality potions increase strength, agility, and vitality by three for eight minutes in real-time while instantly healing 20 health, which makes it useful when prepping for fights. If you have the right perks in the Drinking tree, the drunkenness effect can even provide additional bonuses.

To make potions of Henry quality, you need the Secret of Secrets perk from the Alchemy tree.

9

Henry’s Quickfinger Potion

Useful both for pickpockets and craftsmen, the Henry quality Quickfinger potion increases your Craftmanship and Thievery skills by eight points for a full hour. Especially in early levels, this potion can help you to rob coin purses and pick locks without risking getting caught, and even allowing you to pick higher-level locks.

If you drink this potion before making weapons at the smithy, you can almost guarantee you will craft an item of higher quality, and even a level four item with the right perks. Since it lasts for such a long time, it’s best to get all of your thieving and crafting done in one go, as the relatively rare ingredients mean you won’t have much to spare.

8

Henry’s Marigold Decoction

One of the best ways to heal yourself aside from sleeping or scarfing down a hundred apples, Marigold Decoctions are little more than simple healing potions. Of all the potions or consumables available, none heal you more than a Henry’s Marigold Decoction.

Since this quality also instantly removes hangovers, it makes it slightly better than a Hair o’ the Dog potion while also requiring fewer ingredients. This is one of the potions you should always keep in your pouch to make sure you aren’t killed in an ambush while stumbling back to the nearest bed.

7

Henry’s Buck’s Blood

Stamina in Kingdom Come is used for almost everything and is consumed constantly and often for even the smallest of activities. Buck’s Blood combats this by both increasing your available stamina and its regeneration for a solid hour in real-time.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – Best Horses

Every man-at-arms needs a horse in tow.

This is especially useful in combat, as your stamina tends to drop fairly quickly and leaves you open to unblocked attacks, so it’s best taken before you jump into a fight. If you take one before forging a weapon, you can maintain heavy swings and easily forge swords of the highest quality without having to reheat.

6

Henry’s Artemisia

One of the few potions that directly improve your combat ability, this Artemisia potion increases your strength by six points while also reducing the stamina cost of blocking attacks. This is an essential potion for your pouch when taking on stronger enemies or those in greater force.

Taking Artemisia before many of the unarmed tourneys you can participate in will also ensure you are wasting time and groschen, especially against Goliath in Kuttenberg. You can add Artemisia to the plethora of potions you take before a fight to ensure a victory, but it is likely the most important one.

5

Lethean Water

The only way to reset your perk points is to brew and drink a Lethean Water, which allows you to optimize your perks to better suit your playstyle, especially as you adopt new forms throughout the game. It is also only available fairly late into the game, as it requires access to Kuttenberg.

Another quirk of Lethean Water is it has the highest sell value of any potion you can craft, making it the ideal recipe for grinding groschen while also raising your Alchemy skill. There also isn’t a cap on the amount you can drink, which lets you experiment with the skill tree as much as you like.

4

Henry’s Aqua Vitalis

One of two potions that help you fight despite knocking on death’s door, Aqua Vitalis reduces the amount of health you lose while slowing the rate that bleeding drains your health. This is an important potion to take while fighting multiple enemies, as you won’t always be able to block attacks from all sides.

It’s better to take this potion before you start a fight that you would otherwise lose, allowing you to take on a bandit camp you might have avoided. This potion also requires fairly few ingredients which are easy to find, making it an easy one to craft early and often.

3

Henry’s Painkiller Brew

The other potion ideal for surviving tough fights, Painkiller Brew reduces the effects of injuries like head trauma and bleeding, while also keeping your max stamina above your current health. This is the only way to have relatively high stamina even at low health, meaning you can still make multiple attacks while blocking in turn.

You’ll want to get the best badges for dice in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 to win every time.

This will also allow you to still hit your attacks after taking mace swings to the head, which can easily turn a fight against you in only a few moments. This is one of the combat potions that you don’t have to take beforehand, instead waiting until it becomes necessary after taking too many risks.

2

Henry’s Bowman’s Brew

One of the factors of gameplay in Kingdom Come is that you are bad at almost everything you do in the beginning and slowly master skills until you are easily defeating opponents or crafting masterwork gear. This is especially true for using bows, as Henry will barely be able to keep it straight while aiming for more than three seconds.

This can make it frustrating to get past the initial awkwardness of firing bows, but the Bowman’s Brew both increases the steadiness of your bow while allowing you to aim for longer. It will also increase the bow’s effectiveness in combat, being one of the ingredients needed for one-shotting enemies from stealth.

1

Henry’s Fox

Normally, the Fox potion is ideal for helping you pass speech checks by giving you a flat bonus for a full 24 in-game hours. It also increases your reading speed, which marginally allows you to better manage your time while giving you the option to read more skill books at once than you’re normally allowed.

With the Henry quality Fox potion, you also gain a 50 percent bonus to all experience gained for a whopping 48 in-game hours. Not only does this improve the effectiveness of skill books, but with enough Fox potions handy, you can rapidly increase your skills without having to grind nearly as long, or even just as you explore.

You can also use this potion to get better deals when haggling, which is useful when selling all your Lethean Waters.
