Mike Pollock, an actor best known for voicing Dr. Robotnik in the Sonic the Hedgehog games, has had some serious allegations levied against him by fans. One fan in particular claims Pollock encouraged others to publicly berate them using slurs, even sharing evidence of the tweet that Pollock has seemingly deleted since.
The fan, who goes by DewEnjoyer on Twitter, shared a screenshot of a DM in which someone uses some pretty unforgivable language in an attempt to insult them. Deducing that they’re a fan of Pollock’s, they tagged the Eggman voice actor when sharing the screenshots, asking them to request that his fans stop sending them slurs via DMs.

Pollock seemingly saw the tweet and replied by asking his “weirdo fanbase” to stop sending DewEnjoyer slurs via their DMs, adding “Do it publicly, I guess”. DewEnjoyer has then shared a screenshot of that interaction asking people to spread the word that Pollock allegedly encouraged his fans to send them slurs after they reached out asking for their help to make them stop.
Dr. Eggman’s VA Has Been Accused Of Encouraging Toxic Fans
A Deleted Tweet Shows Him Telling Them To Send Slurs To Someone
Pollock has deleted the tweet since and DewEnjoyer has revealed that the VA has blocked her on Twitter. Probably because, ill-thought-out joke or not, the request that his fans send them slurs has backfired and the backlash from the reply is almost certainly raining down on him instead. DewEnjoyer’s post has been seen by almost a million people and more than 5,000 people have shared it.
DewEnjoyer has followed up with the request that Sega recast Eggman, and the responses to their tweet demonstrate they’re not the only one who thinks it might be time to find a new Robotnik. On top of this current controversy, some Sonic fans have been asking Sega to consider recasting Pollock as Eggman for the better part of the past year due to his staunch pro-Zionist beliefs in the wake of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.
Pollock has provided the voice for Eggman, one of the best-known and most iconic villains in video game history, since 2003, with his most recent reprisal of the role coming in Sonic x Shadow Generations. If the recently revealed Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has voice acting, it seems likely Pollock will have provided the voice for Eggman in that game too.
With Jim Carrey playing the role of Robotnik in the Sonic movies, a whole new generation of Sonic fans will grow up with a different image of the Blue Blur’s nemesis in their heads, and hear a different voice when they picture him. It would take a lot of money to convince Carrey to be the voice of Eggman in the games as well as the movies, though.
