Onimusha 3: Demon’s Siege actor Jean Reno has commented on his potential return to the action-adventure franchise if the third installment gets given the remaster treatment. Reno is a well-respected French actor known for his cinematic roles in Leon: The Professional, Godzilla, The Da Vinci Code, and Onimusha 3: Demon Siege is the only video game the star has been a part of, offering his voice and likeness to protagonist Jacques Blanc.

Following the announcement of the Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny remaster at the beginning of February 2025, VG247 reached out to Reno’s agent to ask if the actor would be keen to return to his Demon Siege role. Reno’s Jacques Blanc is one of the two main protagonists from the third entry, opposite Hidemitsu Samanosuke Akechi, and the character was the first Westerner to wield the Oni Power as a French officer from the future. Reno’s agent replied with a statement from the actor, saying “Of course, Jean would be pleased to reprise his role in Onimusha 3.” Reno was only able to supply his vocal talent for the French version of the game, as a busy schedule prevented the actor from tackling the English version as well, but perhaps Reno would be able to cover both languages should a remaster be green-lit.

The gaming community is of the strong opinion that Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny’s remaster should be a sign of things to come, possibly paving the way for other modernizations including Demon Siege. The third game follows swordsman Akechi and Blanc who have to navigate alternating worlds after switching places in their attempt to rid the world of the Genma army and thwart enemy Nobunaga Oda’s conquest of Japan.
The Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny remaster will focus on a handful of core aspects, including intriguing characters, a rich Kyoto setting, and high-octane swordfighting action, revealed during the online Capcom Spotlight event. The devs behind the remaster previously confirmed Japan’s iconic city will harbor an eerie atmosphere, and fans can also expect the Oni Gauntlet to play a key role in combat. Furthermore, players can look forward to meeting a brand-new protagonist and exploring several historical locations around the country.
