After it was leaked a few days earlier than intended, Konami officially confirmed during the February State of Play that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will launch on August 28. This remake of the 2004 stealth-action game Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater also debuted a new trailer during State of Play that recreated several pivotal moments from the trailer before closing with a glimpse of its crossover with Ape Escape.

Although the story and voice overs remain the same, there have been a number of new additions for this remake. There will be an option for a third-person view, as well as the traditional MGS top-down viewpoint. Players will also be able to change their camo on the fly with a quick-select button, which may help them remain undetected during tense situations.

Most of the game’s Easter eggs have also been incorporated into the remake, with new additions called GA-KO, which will be hidden throughout the game. The GA-KO may not be easy to find, because their cameo makes them blend into the background.

As for Ape Escape’s Pipo Monkeys, players can try their hand at the Snake vs. Monkey special game mode. Poor Snake has to capture these cheeky beasts, and they seem to love mocking him. There’s also an Xbox version of the trailer that shows Bomberman instead of Ape Escape’s Pipo Monkeys. More details about this mode will be released at a later date. In the meantime, Konami has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will have PS5 Pro support.

Players who preorder Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will get a special White Tuxedo outfit for Snake. There will also be a Digital Deluxe Edition, which is slated to include the Sneaking DLC Pack, and other additional content. Players who choose the Digital Deluxe Edition will also have an exclusive 48-hour early access window to the game.

First revealed during the May 2023 PlayStation Showcase, Konami has shared very few details on Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater since then. What we do know is that the game will launch for PC and Xbox Series X|S consoles as well and legendary game director Hideo Kojima isn’t involved with its development. The game is also making use of the original voice-acting files, and thanks to a recent interview, it was finally revealed that Jodi Benson–Ariel in Disney’s The Little Mermaid–voiced the character Eva all those years ago.

Konami has been very busy lately with several video game projects, and while the publisher doesn’t have a second remake of the original Metal Gear Solid in development currently, it has revisited the franchise with the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection. A second volume is also in development, but it doesn’t have a release date yet.
