Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater fans have said they are “concerned” as Konami reveals a Digital Deluxe edition that includes a paid DLC pack with additional costumes for Naked Snake. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a built from the ground-up remake of the 2004 classic, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. While the remake won’t involve the series’ original creator, Hideo Kojima, Konami has stated multiple times that it is aiming to stay true to the original game, but a new DLC pack has some fans worried about that.
After a leaked trailer made its way online earlier in the week, Konami made the news official during the February 2025 State of Play event and confirmed the release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. The highly anticipated remake will be launching on August 28, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Along with a brand-new trailer, a new blog post on the PlayStation website revealed further details on Delta. Konami says that “nearly all” of the game’s original easter eggs remain intact, along with additional new features such as the ability to change camos on the fly and switch between the new third-person viewpoint or the legacy style, which is the same camera and controls from the original game.

Both Metal Gear Solid Delta’s release date trailer and Astro Bot referenced a dormant PlayStation franchise, and those can’t amount to nothing.
With the release date now official, Konami has opened pre-orders for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, but the game’s Digital Deluxe edition has led to concern among some fans. In a new post on Reddit, user SolidPeaks said that they are “a little concerned” about costumes being locked behind paid DLC. The user is referencing the Sneaking DLC pack, which comes with six different uniforms, two face options, and two masks. While it appears as though the DLC can be purchased separately, it is also included in the Digital Deluxe edition, which is priced at $79.99 USD, whereas the Standard edition is $69.99 USD. A Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Collector’s Edition was also revealed last year, which comes with the Digital Deluxe edition.
The original poster didn’t outright blast Konami’s decision to lock these costumes behind a paywall, explaining that they “understand this is more common now” and that they are “sure the game is going to be good.” However, they went on to explain that their concern is that even more costumes will be locked behind a paywall, not just the ones included in the Sneaking DLC pack. Other users did note that the costumes included in the DLC weren’t actually in the original game, meaning that the best camos in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater will still be available to players in Delta.
After first being revealed in 2023, fans were hoping to already have Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater available to them. While the title was originally slated for a 2024 release, Konami has now revealed that fans have a few more months left to go. Players who pre-order the Digital Deluxe edition of the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake will not only receive the Sneaking DLC pack but will also be granted 48 hours of early access to the game, making its release date August 26, 2025.
