If you love giant robots duking it out as much as I do, you’ll want to know about Mecha Break. The multiplayer extraction game is filled with intense, fast, and weighty combat, with plenty of customisation options to make your striking automaton unique. Armored Core 6 kicked the door down for many players new to mechs, and now you’ve got more to look forward to. Best of all, Mecha Break is about to have an open beta on Steam.
If you’ve been itching to give Mecha Break’s robotic twist on multiplayer games a go, you’re in luck. The team at Amazing Seasun Games has confirmed that an open beta is coming to Steam, giving you the perfect excuse to smash opponents to pieces alone or with friends.
Mecha Break is all about balance. There are gigantic, cumbersome, tank-like destroyers alongside more nimble, fast-paced, and comparatively weaker mechs that focus on getting up close and personal. With plenty of customization options, you can build the giant robot of your dreams. Want to look like you’re in Neon Genesis Evangelion? You can do that.

These mechs can then be taken into multiple game modes. There’s both a 3v3 deathmatch and 6v6 hero shooter, if you want some more traditional robot blasting action. Then there’s a PvPvE extraction style mode, offering a wildly different experience. You can go it alone or in a squad of three, barreling through a 200-square-kilometer combat area going on reconnaissance missions while under heavy fire. There are enemy garrisons, Corite pulse storms, and objectives to complete with materials to take home with you. Think of it like PUBG but with mechs instead of men.
If you want to learn more about what Amazing Seasun Games is crafting, we actually sat down with executive producer Kris Kwok to learn more last year. A previous Mecha Break playtest also did really well on Steam, so I’d expect this open beta to be pretty popular.
Amazing Seasun Games says Mecha Break open beta sign ups will start on Thursday February 20, while you can play on Sunday February 23. You can wishlist the game right here.
