With just one week to go before Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is released, Sega has dropped a free demo on Steam. Containing various sections of gameplay and an introduction to the Honolulu map, this is the fastest way to get your pirate fix ahead of time.
Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is gunning straight for a place on our list of the best RPGs when it releases on Thursday February 20. The bizarre premise sees Like A Dragon series favourite Goro Majima take on the pirating world in Hawaii, much as the title suggests, where he uses his varied fighting styles to adventure on the open waves.
The demo, available now on Steam, isn’t time limited, instead giving players a chance to explore the various gameplay sections ahead of the game’s official release. Both the Sea Dog and Mad Dog fighting styles will be unlocked, as well as “a slice” of the full Honolulu map, and the Pirates’ Coliseum naval arena.

Sega’s announcement states that players can expect to be immersed in “thrilling action with furious combat and get a peek at some of the content available in the full game that also includes open-sea adventure, ship customization, crew building, an epic story and more!”
The most recent games in the series got a 9/10 from us – Our Yakuza: Like A Dragon review detailed an unexpectedly heartwarming plot about friendship and love, while our Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth review asserted the game as Ryu Ga Gotoku’s magnum opus. Expectations are high for the latest installment given it fully leans into the absurdity and over-the-top charm that makes these games so memorable.
Alongside the game itself, fans can expect, of all things, a DLC for Dave the Diver that is based around Like A Dragon protagonist Kasuga Ichiban. This is due for an April release, so still leaves you plenty of time to enjoy your time as Majima the pirate.
Once you’re done with the demo, there are plenty more incredible upcoming PC games to get excited about, and an equally exciting list of the best PC games that are playable now.
