That will ensure the tension rises for every single episode, and while certain people might not make it, there is one beloved character whom Netflix should keep alive, as his death would have little impact.

He might have started out as someone who seemed a little grouchy and unfriendly, but he quickly developed into a stereotypical hero who has done everything possible to benefit those around him. It’s a role that has helped make him one of the most beloved people in the series, and that’s why audiences are so emotionally invested in him.

Considering how popular the character is and the fact he is always at the heart of the action within Stranger Things, it’s inevitable that Hopper will find himself in a dangerous scenario within the final season. He’s someone who audiences are desperate to see survive and have a happy ending, but because of that, he could be a prime candidate for the showrunners to kill off in order to get audiences talking and to create something potentially memorable.

Stranger Things Has Already Teased Killing Him

That almost included Hopper, as it was heavily teased that he was dead after season three when he was involved in a massive explosion. It led to people presuming he hadn’t made it due to the severity of the blast, but he ended up landing on a platform underneath and instead got captured by the Russians. That places him into another near-death scenario, but despite how close he dances with death throughout the show, he constantly fights against it.

Following that situation, Stranger Things explored many storylines that would come from his death regarding how the other characters reacted. That’s often how the emotion is pulled from the audience, as seeing someone go through grief can be emotionally taxing. However, because all of that has already happened within the series already, the idea of actually killing Hopper in the fifth season seems slightly pointless. While he didn’t actually die, the impact it had on others ended up being showcased; therefore, Stranger Things would be going over similar territory with this potential storyline decision, creating an upsetting scene without gaining much benefit.

There Are Other Emotions To Pull From Jim Hopper

Hopper remains a crucial part of Stranger Things, and because he’s such a beloved character, fans will still care if he’s put into a position of jeopardy. That means he can be involved in many of the most profound moments in the series, but allowing him to simply be a hero wouldn’t be a bad thing. His character has already endured enough pain and suffering throughout the season, and this time, it could be a positive angle that the show takes with him. That approach would be appreciated and could feel fitting for the final series as it would give at least one of the main characters a happy ending. Even in a show with as many terrifying scenes, it doesn’t hurt to have good overcome evil in the end, at least for some of the characters involved. Considering how close Hopper has come to death in the past, it would actually be a bigger shock if he survives, which would get a different emotion from everyone involved.

Ultimately, Hopper dying in the final season of Stranger Things would get many people talking and evoke emotion from the audience. However, it’s a storyline that has been explored and doesn’t need to be looked into for a second time, even if this one would be for real. There are other characters the show could kill that would likely provide a more significant impact and would also feel like a fresher plot at the same time. Considering this is the end of the show, it would be more beneficial for Stranger Things to give fans a huge shock if someone is going to be killed, and at this stage, Hopper wouldn’t tick that box.
